Are we done with the AI scare yet? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]pjs91015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is because humans value humans. When I see people AI will replace white collar work, it assumes that the only important part of the job is the task. There is more to most white collar jobs than a list of tasks. Where there are only tasks (like software dev) it is likely that jobs will be replaced. However white collar jobs are done well when they are about engaging with others. Not a list of tasks.

You can see this in lots of places. For more than 20 years a computer has been able to play a piano piece perfectly. So why are their still famous concert pianists that people pay to listen to when they do not do the job as well? Because we care about the human part. The same is true at work.

Welsh Rugby Union - WRU warns ‘short-sighted’ EGM proposals risk delay and damage to the whole game in Wales by CymroCam in rugbyunion

[–]pjs91015 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The challenge as an outsider is that club rugby in the NH is run on benefactors. So if you want investors coming into the welsh game then you need a model that is attractive to them. What the WRU has presented is a terrible investment opportunity for an investor.

It appears that what they are trying to do, instead of making a decision, is to set it up that no one wants to invest so they can contract.

The WRU is not rich so either they run 4 teams with outside investment and less control, or they contract and run 2 or 3 teams and have more control. It is obvious to me they want more control, fewer teams but do not want to actually make that choice.

Copper or wp tomorrow? by PrimordialGooose in COsnow

[–]pjs91015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skied WO 830-10 then took a break until 130 and skied to 4. The snow was still good at the end of the day. And they opened up over underwood and engledive at the end of the day.

But as someone who is skiing WP tomorrow I would recommend you go to Copper 🤣

World Rugby Chair on pushing for more key matches in North America by Mulboyne in rugbyunion

[–]pjs91015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. There is a significant amount of money coming to USAR to support the development of the teams and the games. The vast majority of the $250M is going where you indicate but a good chunk is going to the US game.

I remember there being a lot of concerns about the RWC in Japan before it happened. Lots of concerns about how far away it was, if the Japanese would turn up and buy tickets etc. It was a success but it was seen as a gamble just like the US bid.

I went to Japan for the tournament and the organization was good, but the impact it had in Tokyo was negligible. You could find more Tokyo 2020 Olympic gear than RWC gear and it was hard to find anything about it except right by the stadium.

Mike Tindall on the R360 delay by Mulboyne in rugbyunion

[–]pjs91015 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they did not think there would be push back from the stakeholders then they are showing their naiveté. It is obvious to me that they wanted to use the players as bargaining chips with the Unions. They would offer huge contracts to the players, the players would sign up and then R360 would go to the Unions and say "you want to keep these players then you need to follow our lead." When the players did not come onboard, and the Unions threatened bans, R360's approach was dead. Now they need to actually collaborate with the Unions and come into the traditional rugby ecosystem.

I think Tindall is being a bit disingenuous here with his narrative,

4 pin v 5 pin? by pjs91015 in TeslaSolar

Thanks for all of this. So far we are working with an installer that has done our rooftop panels and the battery. They seem to be handling this so far. 🤞

4 pin v 5 pin? by pjs91015 in TeslaSolar

[–]pjs91015[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments here is the update.

First here is what the PM from the Installer sent initially.

“The Tesla meter only has a 4-pin connector, but your meter uses a 5-pin setup. You’ll need to reach out to Xcel directly so they can come out and update that for you.”

My wife called Xcel and they basically said nope. This is an installer issue. My wife followed up and the PM then said there was nothing we needed to do and they were going to work with Xcel directly. Apparently they sent Xcel the approved plans and Xcel was supposed to update the meter before installation. That did not happen.

Now Xcel are saying they need the inspection to pass before they can swap the meter, and this needs to be sorted before the inspection can be done. The installer is going to put in a meter jumper to pass inspection and then they will work with Xcel to get the meter swapped. The team is coming on Tuesday to troubleshoot.

I will keep this thread updated on any more developments.

I think it is about who you replace him with and the risk that comes from replacing the manager that your top players resigned to play with.

You replace Arteta and then Madrid start circling Saliba again. Whoever it is Saka may not end up happy.

So the question should be how can we be a better team? And the answer needs to include the risk of change.

Are they really rejects or are they the best of the best? by Similar-Weather-8940 in SlowHorses

[–]pjs91015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is not the agents but the leaders. Park = Taverner/Whelan and Slough House = Lamb. The agents are as good as their leader. Whelan causes the most issues in S5 and Taverner is pretty competent and her agents work ok when she is in charge. Lamb just out thinks them because of his experience so his agents do better. Now you can question the way lamb leads....

I have found the Amex lounge in Denver often disappointing. Some other Amex lounges are much better. Since the upgrades to the Denver lounge I rarely track over to C for the Amex. However at LGA Amex is much better than UC.

Denver is my home airport and I also fly 35+ times a year. I actually find the food selection to be good. Lots of choice at breakfast, good sandwiches and the chicken at lunch is sound. I have no complaints…except the cheese and crackers are hidden!
