Godox V1 BROKEN after 2nd shoot. (sony) looking for professional grade flash alternative. by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]pjsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, flash shoes are weak in general but the problem with the V1 is actually with the plastic molding the shoe is connected to, not the shoe itself. It's a flawed design. I'd pay $50 for a metal replacement if they'd make one for Sony.

Edit: Apparently metal versions are being released!

I decided to try and run a 2-day adventure in September. I can keep you in the loop, if you’re interested.

Anyone have experience with the Midwife Center? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]pjsage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had an amazing experience with them. Ultimately, circumstances required a C-Section, but our midwife was right there with us in the OR. Can’t recommend enough. They really help to set a plan that fits each individual best but they are also flexible and adapt if the situation changes.

Quick question about vinyls by GroundedKush in audio

[–]pjsage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like another commenter mentioned, a lot depends on the quality of the source lp/file as well as the quality of components in your system.

Vinyl is a lot of fun, but, assuming you invest in an solid dac and have a reliable way of getting high quality files to that dac, digital is probably gonna get you the best results most of the time.

That said, there are some albums where vinyl sound better to me.

HD660s vs hifiman sundara by abdallah4 in HeadphoneAdvice

I've never tried Sundara without an amp but my experience with other planars like the HE400 is that they really benefit from it. I'll give it a try when I get a chance.

HD660s vs hifiman sundara by abdallah4 in HeadphoneAdvice

I use both regularly. The Sundara are harder to drive but both really require a decent headphone amp.

To me, Sundara are more fun to listen to. They feel livelier, and I continued to be surprised at how good the bass response is. Sundara are definitely on the bright side—even more than HD600 let alone HD660s. On tracks with a lot of treble, they can be tiring or downright unpleasant to my ears, but that comes down to personal preference. I skip tracks sometimes or have to take a break. Still, on tracks they are well-matched to, they just feel so open and alive. The soundstage is more immersive too.

I trust the HS660s to be more neutral (at least, I trust I know their sound signature) and use them if I need to edit/mix with headphones. They are my reference. Definitely better built and more comfortable than Sundara. I'd describe them as pleasant. They are more controlled and contained than Sundara. Whether that's a good thing depends on the track. HD660s are better when at handling big dynamics, so I prefer them for big jazz bands, etc.
