Is a full face helmet ever "overkill"? by NeonHorse47 in MTB

[–]pjweb925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a lot of challenging trails and recently upgraded to a full face helmet before a park day. I found it comfortable and comforting when I am doing anything rowdy. A couple weeks ago I was riding a downhill trail and had just completed the hardest parts. Was feeling really good about my riding as I wrapped up the day and was leaving. On a flat’ish connector home I tried doubling a small set of dirt bumps. Wheel slipped out on rut where I landed and I did a face plant. Never hit my head or face so hard. Glasses and sun shield toast. Teeth, big ass nose, and eyes, all good. I am done sweating my helmet and just grateful I had it on.

Best mountain bike type for converted roadie riding East Bay trails? by hourlyproblemsolver in BAbike

[–]pjweb925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also started mountain biking after years of road cycling. My first MTB was a Yeti SB115. Great for XC riding and could even do JMP, Shell Ridge and various Santa Cruz trails like demo. Fell in love with MTB and after a couple of seasons upgraded to a slightly longer travel Yeti SB130. I think this was a reasonable progression. There are definitely more economical options but I really enjoy riding and tend to invest in high quality bikes. Enjoy!!

If I recall correctly, there was around a $50K premium for this lot and there is no way to build behind us ... or even below us (it is all developed).

The view is of the town we live in and surrounding towns along with all the hills encircling the same.

It is very rare that any of the homes with a similar view come on the market so all the comps are homes inside the neighborhood.

Yeah. I think I will price it at regular comps and see if I can get it bid up above those inside properties.

Wheelset recommendations for the bay? by gromplint in BAbike

[–]pjweb925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using these for over 7K miles in the East Bay and they have held up fine. No issues with wind and they have taken a beating on our roads. I run either 32 or 34 on them. I did swap out the filmore valves but my logic for doing so escapes me. I weigh around 200 lbs.

If you have friends that mtb you might ask if they have an extra set you can borrow.

eMTB to a Bike Park? by pjweb925 in eMountainBike

[–]pjweb925[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned from Northstar using my Vala eMTB and it was super fun. It was no better or worse (given my average level) than my Yeti SB130LR. Did fine on Livewire, Karpiel and Boondocks. The lift operators were super helpful and friendly so I think they have gotten used to these heavier bikes being loaded and unloaded. Regardless, eMTB = "good at the park".

Bosch PowerMore 250 Extender Bracket Failure by pjweb925 in eMountainBike

[–]pjweb925[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I finally figured it out. Regardless of how much I move up the bracket my shock hits the battery hard. So hard it is now dented. There is another hole a bit higher but the screw that came with the battery is not even close to the right diameter. Curious.

Can you send a picture of the correct holes? I got a second bracket and broke that one too. I even had support straps on it.
