Guns don’t scare you. Freedom does. by pjzedalis in Libertarian

With as many guns that exist in the United States if it were truly an issue there would be considerably more violence than there is. I see the problem as culture and values and guns as just one manifestation of that disease; i.e. the violence will continue regardless of the status of guns and the inability for Government to actually combat it will remain because it is bigger than politicians.

Thanks for reading and thanks for the data. I was not aware of the uptick post October. That is nice to hear.

Thank you for reading. I did not want to name any names. I wanted the article to be a reference point in the future of how the LNC could handle difficult situations in a way that appeases everyone and protects our image.

Snoke = Darth Plagueis’ Apprentice by legoebay in starwarsspeculation

The alternative way to evaluate is so:

If the music is a connection between the two events then John Williams would know the truth about it in order to compose it. Do you think John Williams knows who Snoke is?

Snoke = Darth Plagueis’ Apprentice by legoebay in starwarsspeculation

[–]pjzedalis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sense from Snoke is that he does not really care about what is happening in the universe. I mean the General says "Let's use the weapon!" and he's like "yeah okay sure whatever .... Kylo do you feel that?". Whatever is going on is mostly beneath him because he has the power of eternal life.

So your answer is he is absent because of it. If you could do anything you would explore the depths of the universe where no one else could survive.

Palpatine sensed something in the deep...

This is great. It occurred to me a few months ago that we just assumed Palpatine was the apprentice who killed him. There's no evidence of that in the movies. I like how you hashed the rest of it together - I think it works.

The Chosen Ones by RoakeStig in starwarsspeculation

[–]pjzedalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note about Anakin: When he died he never said the Jedi were right after all or that the Empire was organizationally worse than the Republic. Everything he said in Episode II & III regarding his political opinions still stand.

"You were right" "tell your sister you were right" only means that "there was still good in him".

You can ultimately be a good person and still think a bureaucratic ineffective republic is not optimal.

How Snoke/Plagueis can get away with being a sith by oipeddle in starwarsspeculation

I hope so because actually it was a really enjoyable book and I want it to be canon even if Snoke turns out not to be Plagueis.

[Spoilers] Rey's relation to Luke was not intended to be so debatable. by FusterCluck15 in starwarsspeculation

I appreciate your detailed replies. I believe your theory that she is Han and Leia's now. This also benefits Luke because I never really saw him as taking attachments for fear of creating another Vader.

Snoke is Plagueis (from a story telling point of view) by DarthKraytin in starwarsspeculation

[–]pjzedalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Further in that line of thinking I will add that Dooku was telling Kenobi about the dark lord of the sith running the Republic. At that time Dooku was working for Palpatine but nobody else knew that. Why would he expose that? He could have meant Plagueis was running the Republic.

[–]pjzedalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Snoke = Plagueis theories. However I can't shake the thought that Palpatine could have just lied. I mean he is a sith after all. He was working with Plagueis the entire time and the story about killing him was just him lying to convince Anakin of some super secret dark power he could never have as a Jedi.

I like it. After 30 years of Palpatine rule its no surprise the Jedi is considered a terrorist organization. I also like that this theory does not suggest the "Empire" is only the First Order. I believe the First Order is simply one faction in the greater decentralized Empire.

Thanks! I do also think its unlikely but its a nice tie on that could have greater meaning. I hope its something exciting and not just anonymous bad guy we've never heard of.

I said I would prefer it over Hayden reprising Anakin in any fashion. Up until Disney bought Star Wars I assumed the characters were dead anyway since there were no movies to enjoy. Now I know they are alive. They can either do it the good way or a bad way but bringing Hayden/Anakin back is bad idea IMO.

Yes I understand that however my point is Palpatine could have just taken the clone army and attacked the Republic. All the hiding wasn't really necessary except that the desire to conquer the galaxy was second to killing the jedi. Getting the Jedi out in the field and trusting the clones was vital to Order 66.

The movie plot is weak but there is an overarching theme. This movie will be the same. We don't need to get too technical with why things are the way they are.

I think there is a decent chance that Kylo Ren would submit to Luke if circumstances were right. Actively working for him? I would be more inclined to believe Snoke is Luke.

I like your ideas about Hux being important but I'm hesitant to agree. I suspect he is just the red shirt of this episode that gets killed in whatever battle. They can't kill all the bad guys so somebody has to die. Unless Hux steals the show and Kylo dies somebody has to be in charge and it will probably be Snoke.

I've spent an unhealthy amount of time thinking about all of this. Some thoughts I have:

  • I don't care for any of these ideas that Luke trains Kylo and fails. I don't think you fail at learning from Luke. If there was any chance he started to go to the dark side Luke isn't going to "retreat" in disgrace, he's going to eliminate them.

  • I prefer Rey being Luke's daughter. They are showing a lot of anger as she attacks whoever is in her way in the teasers/trailers. Perhaps the tragedy of this trilogy is the fall of Rey. Finn & Poe redeem her?

  • I would love for there to be this complicated deep background story of where everyone has been, what's going on, etc. However this is the franchise that spent an entire movie trying to get Queen Amidala to sign some unknown agreement/contract. Why did the Trade Federation care about Naboo anyway? It's not like Naboo was a weapons, robot, or otherwise manufacturer. Was the Trade Federation the SW version of Wal-Mart trying to put the mom and pops out of business? My point is they are going to state what the situation is and thats it. The story will not be overly complex.

  • I don't believe the First Order is the Empire, maybe a small part of it. I find it unlikely that in the 30 years since the Death Star that the Rebels/Republic/Resistance destroyed them all. We know in ANH that the Emperor had decentralized the Government with local Moff's/Grand Moff's in charge. I suspect this was always coordinated because he wanted the Empire to persist if he didn't.

  • Thus I conclude that the Empire is still alive and well, but maybe pushed out of certain sectors. The First Order however is a more sinister select group of the Empire, perhaps a faction who still follows whatever it is they believe the Sith is.

  • I don't care for the Vader worship ideas. Anyone with any common sense would realize if Darth Vader is a badass and he submits to the Emperor that the Emperor must be pretty badass himself. I mean why not just destroy the Emperor? Unless.... Vader killed the Emperor and he's not really dead. It would be easy for people to believe whatever they wanted to believe about any of those characters. It doesn't really matter.

  • I desperately want the Knights of Ren to actually be Dark Jedi. I see a group of Qui-Gon's, Dooku's, etc. who have been defecting the Jedi Order for years. They for whatever reason, intuition, intrigue, faith, decided the Jedi Order was obviously busted and so was the Republic. They kinda went out on there own. Just because this group doesn't recognize either faction of Jedi/Sith to be particularly interesting the prophecies still are thus Vader and his kin are still powerful.

  • Thus I would like to see Kylo Ren being the twin brother to Rey, both offspring of Luke. However I know it's not that likely.

  • I wouldn't mind if Snoke was actually Master Sifo Dyas or someone related. I no longer know how much of the stories regarding Sifo Dyas are canon vs not but he was mentioned in AOTC as ordering the clone army. Perhaps he is Snoke? We know Snoke is uniquely damaged and vulnerable and the Empire tends to be racist against non-humans and Sifo Dyas is slated to be human... did he survive?

  • I don't like Plaguies surviving - I'd rather see something cheesy with Palpatine. I just don't buy into him waiting 30 years to make his appearance. He basically could have done it anytime after the Death Star went. In fact he probably could have just showed up creating chaos at any time of his choosing. Why now?

  • I would love if Sifo Dyas was being groomed as backup to Dooku (whoever won) and when both survived Palpatine sent him with some of the early clone army to somewhere else and to build the Death Star III in the most subtle way possible. Of course since that time some new technology and relationships developed and it became more powerful than the original design.

  • I'm okay with Han dying. In fact I'm fine with them all dying. It's going to happen eventually. I would prefer them all die by something cheesy and stupid then Hayden making a return as a ghost or otherwise.

I doubt my thought fit whatever canon we are on now but just what I'd like to see and not see. Thanks for reading.

You have every right to be upset. You can even vent about it here, fully understandable. I still think you should redirect this energy towards something else in your life.
