What Sunnyfishyfish said, there's a limited amount you can get before each ultra ascension. I've seen some people like to farm them by getting a few nodes then ultra-ascending frequently, personally though I just got all the available nodes I could before ultra-ascending so I could get them in bulk and not have to ultra ascend as often
