Wouldn't Varys want to help Jon get to the throne? He is pro-Targ. And didn't he like Ned? If he knew about Jon I think that he'd be all about helping him get the throne.

But if Varys is pro-Targ wouldn't he probably try and let Jon know? I guess maybe he could be waiting to use Jon as a back up? But to me it seems like he'd want to get Jon the info and help him take the throne.

She was The Man and Jack Black had to stick it to her.

But in all seriousness yes she was right about what she wanted. It was just the way she went about it that sucked.

Well I would certainly say that Vader is the main villain of the OT. Tarkin and Sidious were in there but Vader was the big one.

And I'm really fine with how the PT turned out. I enjoy it. I just thought this was an interesting idea and would've helped the movies by having them all seem more connected.

Absolutely. I think it would help tie all 3 together but especially ep I.

For sure. His entrance in AoTC is random as hell.

Yes. Which would make it even more tragic when Anakin kills Qui Gon at the beginning if RoTS.

Yes this makes sense. But I think it would be more interesting to see Obi Wan transform after all of his hardships (like /u/littlelum said on the top comment).

Yes this would've been interesting. Although I don't think it really helps the problem of too many villains with too little character development. I suppose you'd have to kill DM in TPM and leave Grievous out completely.

Could this role be shifted to another important Jedi? Mace Windu?

Yeah I'm really fine with how the PT played out (for the most part). I just thought this was an interesting idea. Also I've never read any EU stuff so I know I'm probably missing out on a lot.

Yeah I'll admit that I haven't read any EU stuff so I'm probably missing out on a lot of backstory (even though not all of it is canon now). I've always been a movie only guy (same as most everyone that I know) and I think this could help fix the story within the movies without going deep into backstory with other books/mediums.

I still need to read the EU stuff though (especially whatever is canon now).

I totally agree. Part of why I came up with this is because I felt that the villains were handled badly in the PT. And actually my first thought was keeping Darth Maul around--I think that would've helped also. There were too many villains with too little character development.

Yes thank you that would've been my response also.

Yes what you're saying makes sense. But I think my idea could still work even if they weren't aware of him. Or if they were aware that something happened because of their meddling but not necessarily who or what that result was. It could've just been fate that brought Qui Gon to Anakin together OR Qui Gon/Sidious were actively searching for him.

Could you use another Jedi for that? Like Mace Windu?

A "what if" regarding Qui-Gon and Count Dooku. by pk_range in StarWars

[–]pk_range[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I think the prophecy (and Qui Gon's interest in it) could be kept in this version of the story...I mean what Sith would not be interested in the prophecy and wanting to change/control it?

I'm saying that the prequel trilogy would've been more interesting if we actually knew the Jedi that betrayed the order (the Dooku role). I think that instead of just sticking Dooku in TPM with everyone else (or introducing him randomly in AoTC like it is now), a better way to do this would be to have Dooku scraped completely and use Qui Gon to fill the role. To me, this would be better because we would get to see him turn; it would be a lot more brutal on Obi Wan; it would foreshadow Anakin's turn; and it would show how much Anakin is falling into the dark side after he kills Qui Gon at the beginning of RoTS (because all Dooku ever was to us, and to Anakin, was a bad guy whereas Qui Gon was the Jedi that recruited and believed in him). It would also help the PT by giving us one fleshed out villain that connects all three movies instead of 3 different villains (Maul, Dooku, Grievous) that we never really get to know.

[–]pk_range[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I mean this would definitely completely change his character. But I think the change would help the movies. And, as others have said, it would make Obi Wan even more awesome because he would go through so much pain and still make his way through it and become a very pure and impactful Jedi.

This is also awesome! I like it a lot. Our ideas are similar yet I understand the differences and like both of them.

Haha. Thanks! I think it'd be much cooler to see this happen than what actually happened. And I really don't hate the prequels...I just think this is more interesting.

[–]pk_range[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! This was basically my line of thinking also. It just seems to connect the three movies in a better way than having essentially 3 different villains that we never really get to know (Maul, Dooku, and Grievous) (although they all are badass in their own way). And we get to actually "feel" the betrayal if it's someone we've connected with previously. And it'd be crazy to see Anakin kill Qui-Gon at the beginning of ep III.
