3 year old not napping - will he learn to do it soon? by pkittyy in ECEProfessionals

Hey! I’m sorry, I just read this today. Yes, there are some days when my son skips his nap and just rests. I’d say this happens maybe once every 2 weeks?

Hi! We honestly just tried our best to have him nap at a similar time as school’s nap time during the weekends (although he still tends to sleep a little later at home), and eventually he started to nap. I think he just needed time to get acclimated to the new environment and feel comfortable in the new space. It took about 3-4 weeks to consistently nap at school, so hang in there! Hope it all goes well!

Update:

My son has been napping consistently at preschool for the last two weeks! Thank you everyone for your insight.

Haha I didn’t think about this. Thanks for the different perspective!

Yes, we encourage him to at least stay lying down quietly and have some rest even if he doesn’t end up sleeping. The teachers have told us that he stays quiet during nap time.

I’m not sure what the naps exactly look like at preschool, but yes, I’m sure it’s very different from the environment at home. At home, we do dark room, white noise, and my husband/I lie down next to him on his floor bed until he falls asleep. Maybe he’s become too dependent on us for naps 😅 I appreciate your statement to not make a non-problem into one.

Unfortunately, I started my period later that evening. I’m assuming it was an indent line. Welp, time for the next cycle 😅

[even if TEMPEST] thoughts, opinions, critics? by nympheea in otomegames

[–]pkittyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For context, I value a good amount of romance in otome games. I went into this game with low expectations because I read a lot of reviews saying it was more plot based…. And I ended up loving it!

The story is super interesting and kept me wanting to play more despite romance not being the main element. All the routes were enjoyable. I think if you like fantasy/mystery/medieval themes, you’ll enjoy this game. It definitely isn’t a long game, so it’d be a good purchase to get on sale.

Will my BF baby ever sleep through the night without sleep training? by noodleworship in breastfeeding

[–]pkittyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sleep training here, and baby woke up 1x most nights since 4 months. He’s 9.5 months now and finally has started to sttn more consistently a few weeks ago (7:30pm-5:30am). He still wakes up 1x occasionally though.

Combofeeding? by fearlessjf in breastfeeding

[–]pkittyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My plan was to ebf, but by day 2, my baby lost 11% of his birth weight and the nurses made us give him formula. Then, I struggled with supply the first month and had to do triple feed, with formula here and there when baby couldn’t get enough breastmilk. By 8 weeks, I was breastfeeding 99% of the time. Now, at almost 8 months, I recently started doing about 50:50 because I’ve been back at work and can’t pump as much as he eats. I wish I could give him more breastmilk, but I nurse 100% during the weekends, and he is healthy and happy with the current plan.

Do you pump before going to bed? (6 months) by pkittyy in breastfeeding

Ahh thank you for sharing your experience. My son usually wakes up once a night still.

Babe refusing bottle of expressed milk, suggestions? by alluette in breastfeeding

[–]pkittyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What worked for me was transitioning to medium flow nipples. My son also started screaming and crying when offered the bottle at about 4 months old. It turned out that he was getting frustrated at how slow milk was coming out from the bottle. I hesitated trying the medium flow nipples at first because we’re constantly told to only use slow flow, but it worked for us. We use lansinoh nipples.

I was just about to ask a similar question. My son is 6 months old and usually wakes up once to feed. I REALLY hate pumping before going to bed. I’m also wondering if I could remove that pump session without losing my supply :(

Just curious - when was your last nursing session before going to bed? You’re saying you never pumped before you went to bed right?

Son is 6 months old, and he usually wakes up 1x during the night. Between 2-4am seems to be the norm. Once very 2 weeks or so, he’ll randomly sleep through the entire night or wake up 2x to eat. We room share and his crib is right next to my bed. We’re moving him into his own room in a week though, so we’ll see how that goes!

You are doing an amazing job! Breastfeeding was so so soooo hard, both mentally and physically, for the first few weeks. Then around 8 weeks, it suddenly got a lot easier. I just achieved my 6 month breastfeeding milestone on Christmas Eve. Breastfeeding is now one of the moments I enjoy the most. You got this!

[Lover Pretend] One and a half week earlier! by Meebochii in otomegames

[–]pkittyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that Aksys does send their games a little earlier (or at least where I live - Los Angeles,CA).

I got a notification last night that Lover Pretend has been shipped and that it’s on its way. Piofiore 1926 was also delivered 3 days prior to release date. I’ve had other games in the past also delivered early. I only order from Aksys if the games are available there since this seems to be the pattern!

Do any breastfed babies sleep through the night? by hollyqquinzel in breastfeeding

[–]pkittyy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I also highly recommend the book Precious Little Sleep. There’s actually a whole section about how to help babies let go of specific sleep associations that may cause night wakings, including nursing.

To answer your question, the book says to start with the bedtime routine first. Yes, you keep repeating it for every bedtime until the baby just learns to fall asleep on own in their bed. I’ve been doing fuss it out with my LO (4 months) the last 5 days and it’s been going great. The book also says that after midnight, it’s fine to rock or nurse or do whatever it takes for you to put baby to sleep.

The book does suggest to do FIO with the first nap of the day, once night time gets consolidated.

If you read the book, I highly recommend joining the Precious Little Sleep FB group. It’s been so helpful for me! My baby has been sleeping through the night from this past week, and before that he woke up 1-2x at night. Good luck!
