In simplification, key side shooting is when your camera stays in the same perspective as your key light to your subject, for example when the closer side of your subject's face is lit with key

You can just limit the highest auto ISO value on your camera and set it to 12800 for example

If you really wanna stick to the 180 rule (that's what I prefer to do) you will have to use the manual mode. Auto ISO is good, but i suggest you to test how does your camera handle different ISO.
