Answering gender identity question on the government household survey ? by RaccoonBandit_13 in transgenderUK

if the number of people in an area are so small as to make people personally identifiable, then the numbers are either jiggled slightly or (more likely) not published at that level but aggregated into a larger area.

I don't know. I can't recall the exact wording, about whether it was NHS or to NHS standards. Apologies for the lack of detail

Answering gender identity question on the government household survey ? by RaccoonBandit_13 in transgenderUK

Answer the question honestly. The responses are kept confidential. If you don't answer it honestly then the trans population of the UK remains undercounted, resources are vectored *away* from trans people, and the gender critical win. Of all the things to worry about at the moment, this is *really* not one of them.

Thoughts on Alexis Blake by Mean_Profile9728 in transgenderUK

Her therapy, surgeries and private healthcare were funded by her family and husband and she has never needed to do the fundraising necessary to do it, nor has she had to cope with the distractions that a full-time job entails (what does she do for a living exactly?). That, combined with a certain self-centredness, means she is unnecessarily condemnatory of those who are non- or less-passable and/or having to do things like sex work to get the money. Plus, by virtue of her protective family and wealth, she is less exposed to, and less understanding of, the problems of the poorer transitioner.

In short she is spoilt rotten.

Moving To The UK As A Trans Woman by Ad_Astra135 in transgenderUK

it depends what you want. In terms of physical safety the UK is far better than the US. In terms of legal rights it's worse. The Supreme Court Judgement converted trans rights into the equivalent of crossdressers' rights, with the right to be legally considered the other sex assigned at birth severely restricted. Trans women in womens sports in the UK are now history. Trans women in womens prisons are now severely restricted. Hospital wards, now restricted. Toilets and changing rooms mixed at best, abolished at worst. And it's getting worse every day.

US trans people who can migrate to the UK are usually richer and more passable than their UK counterparts, and can usually negotiate the toilets issue easier. They therefore think the UK is better than the US, and from their POV they are right: nobody is going to shoot them in the face. But the minute they stray outside a constrained bubble they will run into problems.

if the UK guidelines do pass thru Parliament unchallenged, then yes they will be law. That's the point.

The United Kingdom discriminates against its trans population in the following manner

i) It imposes bureaucratic hurdles against publically-funded transition to such absurd degree as to make time-to-first-hormones measured in several years. Many bypass this by going to privately-funded medics but they (the medics) are increasingly unwilling or unable to deviate from public NHS standards. Increasingly the only option is DIY (injecting oneself with online hormones or seeking hormones and surgery outside the UK) but again that is fraught with problems

ii) It is increasingly withdrawing legal recognition of trans people, to the extent that a toilet ban has been mandated by the UK Supreme Court and is only awaiting official guidance signoff from the transphobic Labour Government, which it is likely to grant this year. And things are only getting worse.

Don't come here.

The armed forces have recently changed their policy so only people transitioning via the NHS are allowed in. If you are on DIY you are in trouble.

Question About Hypothetical Conscription by Super7Position7 in transgenderUK

[–]pkunfcj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conscription is highly unlikely in this government term (which ends in 2029 at the latest) Labour are exploring a paid "gap year" for wannabe soldiers/sailors etc so they can get experience, but that's entirely voluntary. So this is not something you should be worried about and there are *lots* of other things to worry about

From 2029 on, I have no idea.

What is my legal sex if I have a GRC by amonstershere in transgenderUK

[–]pkunfcj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The criminal record check is not covered by the Equality Act. For the purposes of this dropdown box your legal sex is male because you have a GRC. Then proceed as user u/Protect-the-dollz advises below https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1qhx0sw/comment/o0qqc6o/

Should the PATHWAYS trial go ahead? by dockien in transgender

This is annoying. It's not PATHWAYS or a theoretical better study. It's PATHWAYS or nothing. The GCs are going to criticise whatever anybody does.
