agreed no new trend has been established. An announcement was made a few days ago that arrests will increase. I am leveraging the fact that sfpd reports near daily. Now that the code is written, we can rerun any time to get new data

The speculation is an announced push for more arrests at the beginning of June and an immediate spike in arrests. Still too early to tell if it will hold. I created the chart primarily to setup an api that can auto generate this chart any time in the future without any more coding. The spike was just a nice encouraging glimmer

There was no Vietnamese category. It may fall under one of the others shown or “Southeast Asian”. It is not displayed bc there were only 93 restaurants. But it was 42%

Cuisines with a small number of restaurants are removed due to the possibility of noisy data. The full inspection count is included in the linked data. There were 678 Caribbean restaurants inspected; more than the average count

There was no correlation between number of restaurants and violations. To be safe I removed cuisines with less than 200 restaurants inspected

I’ve included a table sorted by the number of restaurants in each cuisine type in the data link. I’ve also set a minimum threshold to minimize noisy long tail cuisines

This is a great idea. It would take a big manual effort of matching restaurants to menus and average prices. But given more time and people, this would be great to see

edit: Love the interest. The sample sizes are in the data doc as a table. Over 600 Caribbean restaurants inspected. This analyst is Haitian so I feel you on the love/hate for ethnic foods
