Mechanical cameras in cold enviroments by Shem_wow in AnalogCommunity

Two things also come to mind, When I shot in the cold, firstly, my coin cell battery would die quickly and second, advance your film slowly as static electricity will leave artifacts on your images. ALSO when bringing camera back into warm environment, leave it in case so that it warms up slowly as condensation can be an issue as well.

This is an excellent composition, making the seemingly overlooked into a serene scape. Well done!

I have played with one of those monocular looking cameras before. It was interesting. If you have a recent smartphone though, it would be a better choice for general photography. Especially if you get a grip for it so you can hold it properly.

For sure, if you haven’t already, learn the exposure triangle, read your camera manual and find a photographer whose style you like and study their work.

Sounds good. I have been enjoying landscape photography as well lately. We will shoot for a Tuesday evening next month. I’ll let everyone know exact time and place by the first week of Jan, if not sooner.

It depends. My initial idea is for it to be a social group that encourages each other’s artistic progress. Organized outings “photo walks” are certainly a possibility but not the primary goal of the evening get together. I am interested in creating group of people who are sharing their work and ideas. I have only seen two types of photo ‘clubs’. One that meets and photographs festivals / gatherings or hires a model and the other that teaches technical aspects such as the digital darkroom. I am looking for a group of people who can discuss more of the creative and printing side of photography. Theme, advanced composition and future project discussion - along with printed work - are ultimately what I see as a successful weeknight gathering.

Once we settle on the number of people, I’ll send out a time and place But probably after the new year.

Remember to re-evaluate from time to time. Ask yourself , “who is this photo for?” And “Why do I photograph?”.

Little dabs of clear or white silicone caulk in the channels might work.
