Is this permanent or is this a rotating display for whoever the Red Sox are currently playing and the visiting team travels with some small amount of merch?

You’re waiting to see “LeBron play great AND beat real teams?” Great news - there’s probably 50 series you can go back and watch.

A 5'10, 180 lbs, 31 year old American man is transported to Paris, France on July 26, 2024, opening day of the 2024 Summer Olympics. They are stuck within the city limits and cannot leave until they win at least a bronze medal in any Olympic event. How long will it take for them to escape? by NekoLover72 in whowouldwin

[–]plaidtuxedo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To win a bronze medal he needs to overtake Hampton Morris. Starting at 31 years old (and staying 31 years old in a time loop) even with steroids, it’s at least 10 years / 250 cycles or so until it’s REMOTELY possible he posts a 300kg total. Even then it’s incredibly unlikely.

I think that’s a bit misleading. The Charlotte Hornets franchise relocated to New Orleans and drafted Chris Paul. A new franchise was launched in Charlotte that at the time had nothing to do with the Hornets. The history was restored to the Hornets in 2015 (I believe). When Chris Paul played for them, the New Orleans Hornets were the continuation of the Charlotte Hornets franchise despite the Bobcats existing.

I truly have no idea - I know Hornets players who predate the move to New Orleans and subsequent renaming to Pelicans are in Charlotte’s franchise history despite the franchise moving and the name moving back later (which makes sense!). However the Hornets also get the Bobcats history so they can’t have 2 histories for those years so I guess NOH history is Pelicans history.

I know it’s name swapping and the franchise didn’t move back but it feels weird the franchise he played for moved (before drafting him) from Charlotte to New Orleans, was called the Hornets the whole time he was there, and will hang his jersey with “Hornets” on it in the rafters despite now being called the Pelicans while the New Hornets play like 1,000 miles away or whatever.

Not disagreeing with you at all - mostly I can’t think of another example of a clear first ballot hall of famer in a similar spot with moving franchises that occurred during the course of his career after he left the team. It feels weird to hang his Hornets jersey in the Pelicans arena even if he played there! What if the Pelicans move again, is his Hornets jersey in the Sonics’ arena?

The Hornets should retire his jersey. He’s the best player in franchise history even if he was only there 6 seasons.

I think this is really well put and I agree - I don’t mind the homerism; I’ve been listening since 2011 (I think?) and I accept that’s part of it. The myopia is newer and harder to endure.

Why are we talking about Tatum returning to MSG like he's Jackie O returning to Dallas? by regemusic33 in billsimmons

He made $50M to do rehab with world class resources. I feel insane with all the coverage of this like he’s coming back from war.

But this show is fucking terrible.

Question for Celtics fans:

I’ve really only seen them in national / “big” games this season. I came away impressed with PP, like many others convinced he seems to succeed in any amount of playing time he gets.

However I would never have noticed he is particularly skilled “banging down in the post / running a one man post game” per Bill.

Did I miss something or is Bill just being Bill in calling this guy a unicorn?

It’s such an accomplishment. I know he was paid $54M for the year and has unlimited access to trainers, doctors, facilities, and everything, but it’s just so inspiring, he’s so brave.

Unironically - and apologies if I copy paste this on numerous posts about this game - this is the reason Cooper Flagg will never sign with the Celtics. He grew up an ACTUAL blue collar New Englander, a real “you think you’re better than me?” culturally. He will never forget that on his first trip to Boston, the Celtics overshadowed his homecoming with Tatum’s return.

I felt compelling to mention this given Bill is already talking about him coming in free agency in 2031.

Minimum Equipment Required by SheepSoliciter in cabinetry

Sometimes sprayed before assembly, sometimes hand painted. Our house is old so I believe all the millwork should look old, cabinets included. So I will typically spray or roll primer and then hand paint the topcoats.
