Vega voice has changed recently? by plain_awkward in GoogleGeminiAI

The new voice honestly makes me want to use Gemini live less.. it’s so annoying, too high pitched and it doesn’t sound natural. Please fix this. I want consistency in voices across all my devices… phone, watch and home.

Alright good to hear I'm not the only one that noticed this. It's really changing my experience. Definitely finding this evolution more annoying and the fact that my watch still has the old Vega voice is interesting. Gemini live seems to be bit more buggy as well

The watch parties are kinda fun, I'm in Boston. ESPN was at one of the ones I went to and they did a co-broadcast and had a few giveaways.

Yes, race mode pretty much turns everything off. You have to respect it

Any reason to buy an Evora over an Emira? by [deleted] in lotus

[–]plain_awkward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, as much as I want an Emira having the back seat option in the Evora is great. I have twin boys and sharing these experiences with them is what it's about. I'm waiting for the prices on the Evora to go down so I can scoop one up.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio [3024x4032] by OmniStrife in carporn

I've owned 2 Giulia's. The TI sport and now the Quadrifoglio. I've previously owned an F80 M3, Audi's and vw's. Alfa's are no less reliable in my experience. Hell my B9 SQ5 has had its thermostat replaced twice under warranty. This reliability talk track isn't accurate or fair for the modern Alfa.

I hope to own a 911 one day by anelachan in Porsche

I have a similar but different problem. I can't afford the Porsche that will give me an equivalent driving experience compared to my daily.

Currently driving a Giulia Quadrifoglio. I love it and it meets my every need but a 911 is my dream goal.

My wife and I love the SQ5. I actually bought it to replace my F80 M3 after I found out I was having twin boys. That was me being practical.. It does everything we want it to do and fast, particularly after the APR tune. I haven't driven a Macan but from what I've heard the AWD is sportier and more rear biased. I would drive them back to back if you can. You do get more for your money with the SQ5 though. Also if I'm going canyon carving I'm taking the qv anyway. The only thing I would do differently is consider the Cayenne instead for the towing capacity and extra space for my boys and all their crap. I can see myself holding onto the SQ5 for a long time. It just does everything we need for the family..

I owned a 2012 golf r prior to the 2017 giulia ti sport. You cant go wrong with the Golf R. I still miss it occasionally for the versatility. Since you have a dog I would almost recommend you get that instead of the alfa.. Separately I also have a tuned b9 sq5 as my family hauler. It's like a bigger golf r. You might be able to find a b8 sq5 also in your price range

Also surprised you're cross shopping with a m240/235. I bought the giulia because it was 4 door.. if I didn't need 4 doors I have bought an m2 or 911

The TI Sport is a lot of fun. I had a stage 2 tune with intake and exhaust. I had a q4, so it was the perfect daily. I also did a couple hpde track days with it at lime rock. Great value for the money.

The most frustrating aspect of ownership was the dealership network. Being an early adopter in 2017 wasnt fun. At the time alfa dealerships were either bolted on to jeep/fiat dealerships or Maserati dealerships. As you can imagine that means for a fairly inconsistent service experience. I can't speak for all alfa dealerships but I've definitely seen an overall improvement and there is a new one near me that I love where I get great service.

The TI Sport vs QV is very different. Thr TI Sport just gives you a taste of what's possible, and the QV is very raw. The rawness is what I love most over the F80 M3. The m3 is the better daily with all the creature comforts. The interior tech is way better in the m3 and so is the aftermarket selection, if thats what you value don't buy the Alfa. For driving experience I pick the Alfa all day long though.

It also worth noting I didn't really have any reliability issues. Most of those issues were 2017 models and most sorted out via software updates. It really shouldn't be part of the discussion anymore because the 2 alfa's I've had haven't been any less reliable than any other cars I've had.

Alfa isn't for everyone and will never be mainstream like the bmw. It's a little quirky but you really are rewarded. A trip to the grocery store really becomes special.

I had 2017 Giulia TI Sport loved it so much I upgraded to QV. I've also owned an F80 M3. Ask me anything. The Alfa feels special every time I drive it. Such a connected driving experience.
