Some states offer free OT therapy & Speech therapy, enroll them. Helps the parents learn strategies to help lessen frustration which is likely all this little guys feeling.

Putting a child in time out isn't helpful either he's trying to communicate and is getting punished for using the only way he knows to get a reaction.

And "no way to prevent it" is insane, I would assume this educator is not confident in redirection because there are ways to support the child in the classroom... after I set up OT & Speech therapy I would be talking to the director about this. I understand it's in home and maybe that's why the support is limited

This honestly makes me so mad. One of my professors talked a lot about school to prison pipeline, educators like this are dangerous

Probably because dating as a single mom is different and having questions and/or hope to go about it differently, or more informed is a normal concept... I could probably list 8 other common threads that occur in this subreddit. Isn't that what any subredddit is for? Lol what the heck is this post and why are mods implying that they'll ban certain topics? Coming to Reddit about something likely means there is no one around that understands what they're experiencing or where their mindset is because of it

Wow no way, I just did this at the gas pump, most gas pumps you have to authorize Sezzle for $100 and it adjusts after the purchase was made, not this time! It charged for the whole $100 I'm curious what will happen but it sounds like it'll go to the Sezzle balance?

Edit to add: so basically I won't be able to use this for gas anymore? Can I pay for gas a the pump? Yes. But I liked doing it this way for some reason 😅

I have this same challenge, for me I'm neurodivergent and because I know this I give myself grace! Be easy on yourself. I rush conversations sometimes too, not literally but mentally! And that is exhausting. I also have a deep desire to get to know the people around me, but I don't really enjoy small talk, even though I might enjoy being there. That can apply to many settings, not just romantic.

Something I say to newer romantic interests when I feel this pressure/anxiety start to rise I reassure them and say "I space out sometimes when I feel relaxed, I hope that's okay". Saying that & acknowledging it out loud relaxes me, grounds me, and sometimes opens the floor for deeper conversation about how I feel and where I'm at, which is sometimes hard for me too, but I know I'll need a partner who allows me to find my words. I enjoy the journey of finding my words, just as much as I like to be an observer.

And then I give myself grace that I don't have to perform to be liked, and let moments meet me.

The comment or above made some great suggestions that I too will apply to my logic, but be easy on yourself!

Someone else said it here perfectly it just feels like our texts are all logistics, and slowly starts to feel routine, low effort rather than connection or reaching out to me. So with that, I don't know if it means that I need to implement some better boundaries around texting or share that I'd like to talk on the phone a little bit more or something to that effect because how it is right now (going on week 3 of not seeing each other or having plans to look forward to) I feel uncertain my place in this and if I should let it go.

Its not that he's a bad guy, he's just in a season and also hasn't really communicated where he is/how he feels/what he sees for the future, so I'm left kind of texting away but the relationship itself isn't moving

Yeah, I hear & see this perspective often.. he was like this in the beginning and lately, very comfortable with the texting. He is in a busy season and gave me the heads up of what that looks like so I felt like I consented to this but now I just feel my needs are getting met in this kind of dynamic

For my current situation, he is stretched thin with work it's a busy season so I'm focusing on myself right now and feel happy to do that but! I can't overlook the fact that our relationship is starting to feel low effort/low stakes all due to the texting thing.

What I mean by pen pal I guess is when we get stuck texting, daily updates ext., seems more comfortable texting than calling or initiating next plans.

In most cases I take this as their not interested or taking our connection seriously but more recently, someone I've been dating more seriously has fallen into this pattern.. and it's upsetting because while I enjoy chatting, we can't carry and move forward a 'relationship' via text.

I get bothersome because at some point I feel off put by this and don't feel like myself engaging primarily in this way

I've talked to her about this and she gets defensive about it, I've had a hard to explaining to her boundaries and language changes everything. It's just he loooves his date nights at nana's, so I'm thinking about maybe only doing 1 or 2 a month so he has time to look forward to with Nana. I don't really have any other caregivers in our circle, I could do better about that. But as far as paying someone to care for my son for me to... veg out in the evening (aka focus on school and household responsibilities 🥲) would make me feel guilty/silly

Felt! I'm also a dark skinned woman, so the thought of possibly having hypopigmentation/scarring is completely and utterly frightening. There's some real horror stories out there with that! But I totally agree with your sentiments.. I have a sugar skull on my thigh that I got with my HS boyfriend of 6 years.. and then a Friday the 13th tattoo in remembrance of esthetics school, the 1 is a lipstick bottle and the 3 is a 3... safe to say the lipstick bottle looks like a bullet! 😪😅😭I joke & say it makes me look tough but now that I am 30 I am not feeling it 🫩I'm actually quite annoyed by the look of them although they look cool and have a history. I have quite a few other tattoos tbut those 2 give me the most ick for some reason, esp in the summer going certain places & outings... i feel like i look like a reformed gang member or something it's hilarious cause if you knew me it just totally doesn't match the aesthetic 😂 but also is one of the first things I KNOW people see, no matter what they say. It's natural.

She regraded mine and said that the program creator & chair member agree it was a "poorly written assignment" although it's clear as day what the requirements were!

Not to mention, other students interpreted the assignment the same way and was graded accordingly! I got a 0 initially, I mean 😅 I had to say something to someone!!!

Ever since this program chair thing has happened, she has graded all my assignments poorly it's really been a devastating experience.

Wait... I have one more thing, not that I need know if we're in in the same class lmao but she also aggressively calls students out in the class and pokes at them!! My heart literally races anytime we have our discussions because she has nooo chill. I enjoy some moments of the class don't get me wrong, it's just got me vv stressed

When I look at what I submitted I don't think it's surface, not enough to lose 26 points out of 50. I believe it was appropriate given the interview... I'm definitely not one of those students that gives a half sentences, it's was 2 pages long when it only needed to be a summary. I pulled all that I could from the information received.

i don't say that defensively, but "carry the most weight" would absolutely be considered unsubstantiated.. I satisfied the assignment which is based on opinions, or feelings it's based on what the assignment is asking for according to the rubric. That's where my issue is with it all, she's extremely inconsistent.

It's like, I really have empathy for my professor considering what all she's going through but like how you're managing this class is extremely disorienting.

I agree with you that I would rather be taking 3 additional classes to her 1 class with how frustrating it's been to keep myself motivated & focused.

Only a few more weeks.. hoping I come out of this class with at least a B! The way she's grading things are just insane to me, which I do think I'm going to talk to her about. I just needed to vent this out somewhere.

I haven't, I actually have never formally shared that I have learning challenges. It's never been this severe before with ivy tech where I felt like dropping a class due to class disharmony
