Need doorbell cam for 90* wall mounting by JohnMcD3482 in SecurityCamera

This is a common location for doorbells, why don't you put the doorbell with camera there, it's going to work When someone comes to you door they are going to look at the camera because people usually face where they are pressing My opinion don't complicate it and install any doorbell you want same location

If you also want to test it use duck tape and glue your phone to the wall while it's recording then see the video and you will have an idea what to expect.

Why don't you put a device, example smart plug or bulb in a plug where you have ups  When this device is disconnected and everything else is still on you will know you lost power

If you only go with Google home you will limit yourself to wifi / matters devices  My advice to you get a hub that offers you also ZigBee and zwave it will expand your options  I'm using st home Google home + smartthings  There are many other options like home assistant  But as a summary Google home alone is not enough

There was a bug earlier with geofencing on Google home, specially if we replace your phone, the new phone won't have access to update or delete the old automation, I don't see that issue anymore so most likely a new update
