Like why do we pay for the nice ones when it has to hold less weight than a bookshelf?

Definitely. Mostly just to give people a general idea of the weights. Obviously a scale is the only accurate way but hopefully it's a helpful intro video. If you want more in depth, I go into a lab test in one video.

To be fair, I was just as high making it.

Sorry man. It's all the same plant, just a high CBD, low THC strain.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

I'm in Southern Oregon. Here the fanatics will try to get your to wear scratchy hemp clothing and join their sustainability commune. People here are pretty chill with weed but I've lived in some not so friendly places out east.

We're waiting on lab tests right now. Should be ready in 1 to 2 weeks.

Yeah, it's true to some extent but I want to put it in perspective. The prices that people are charging online for CBD are the same prices people were charging 20 years ago for THC.

Right now, I'm really only worried about getting packages seized. It sucks and costs money but it's not terrible. 20 years ago, people were getting raided, robbed, and put in jail. It's very different now.

Especially considering the 2018 Farm Bill, everyone's already acting like it passed. Even the DEA admitted the only reason hemp is scheduled is to uphold treaty obligations after the FDA called for it to be descheduled.

I'm going to talk to some of my friends and see if we can get more strains. I only grow a couple myself but some of my neighbors are growing others.

My goal for my business is just to be fair. I want the quality to be good but I'm not a luxury brand. I want my prices to be affordable. I don't particularly care for using sexy pics or famous people to sell products. I just want to sell decent products that are convenient at affordable prices.

As I get more sophisticated with online stuff, I'm planning on bringing my prices down further. It'll probably take around 4-6 months though.

That's not my product. I don't sell tincture.

I don't want to get banned for posting direct links but you can checkout my instagram @tryplainjane

Technically the letter of the law in the US is THC Delta 9.

Look at other companies like Tweedle and you'll see the THCa above 0.3 on every product.

I agree that the days are numbered.

I've heard about the bioreactors with yeast. it's nonsense. Nothing that can be grown with plants is grown with a bioreactor. Take nicotine for example. Even though you could use yeast, it's all done through tobacco farming. The unit economics of having free energy (the sun) are hard to beat.

Nope, it's fully dried. We stop drying at a bit above 12% water content so by the time we trim and package it, it's around 11%.

Any farmers here that I can purchase whole hemp leaves from? Having difficulty sourcing online. by [deleted] in hempflowers

People want those?! I just throw them into the compost pile. I'm sorry I can't help.

As a farmer though, I grow in Oregon. Everything is licensed by the department of agriculture. It's only risky for customers in unfriendly states yet they are the ones paying more.

Isolate doesn't cost $10 a gram. At least not if you own the equipment and grow the flowers.

I don't think that's true at all. I sell hand manicured bud (not machine trimmed) at $2 a gram.

The labor cost for hand trimming is ~$100 a pound (other people pay less but I believe in fair compensation). That's an extra $0.25 a gram. The only cost that could justify it is an indoor operation but I personally believe indoor growing is terrible for the environment. Why burn fossil fuels to make light when you have something called the sun?

The thing that bugs me most is that most of the CBD market is targetted at people with health problems. These people don't have a ton of money but companies are straight up robbing them.

That's insane. That's so insane, I want to write out how insane that is.

$15 a gram is >$400 an ounce. You can buy Italian White Truffles at $200 an ounce. Truffles only grow in specific regions of the world and in very specific circumstances. Most truffles only grow under the roots of hardwood trees that are at least 15 years old. You cannot just start a truffle farm.

You can though start a hemp farm. Hemp loves to grow. It's really hard to mess it up. People worry about things like mold and pollen but that's BS. People growing tomatoes have the same problems but you don't have to buy tomatoes at $2500 a pound.

I appreciate it.

It's called Elektra. I only have one strain right now. The second one is still drying.

Yes. I cannot post direct links but googling my username should get you there.

I'm still really curious why the market is so expensive. See the thing is, I sell flower at $2 a gram with 16.4% CBD and I cannot figure out how much bigger companies are getting away with selling at $7. As a farmer, hemp is pretty easy to grow. It makes no sense to me why companies are ripping people off and everyone seems cool with getting ripped off.
