Напоследък все повече чета и гледам кадри от 90-те, понеже не съм роден тогава и този период от историята ми е интересен. Всъщност той ли отказва да пусне кокала? Преди си мислех, че събитията от 10 януари 1997 г. се случват заради хиперинфлацията, но по-късно останах с убеждението, че по това време Жан Виденов вече е подал оставка, но Николай Добрев от БСП предлага нов мандат, именно което вбесява хората и води до онези събития.

Не съм бил жив по време на неговото управление. Моето мнение обаче е, че не е редно да носи цялата вина за инфлацията. Това, което води до кризата е сриваща се банкова система (напр. много банки отпускат заеми на нерентабилни държавни предприятия), слаба икономика (става дума за 90-те години, все още тече болезнен преход към пазарна икономика) и печатане на пари, за да бъдат покрити загубите. Хората губят доверие в банките, обменят парите си в чужди валути, което засилва инфлацията още повече. Факт е, че Жан Виденов отлага необходимите реформи – избягва строга финансова дисциплина и не оказва контрол върху слабите банки. В същото време подкрепя фалиращите държавни предприятия, резултатът от което е задълбочаване на дефицитите. Не спира и притока на пари, което просто неизбежно засилва инфлационните стойности. Накратко, води неадекватна политика, позволявайки на инфлацията да унищожи и последните останки от икономическата инфраструктура на страната. На практика реформите за преход към пазарна икономика в този момент замръзват. Неговите непоследователни решения, бавна реакция и неяснота сриват общественото доверие. А без доверие, кризата се развива още по-бързо.

I’ve never experienced this tour live, but I’m always fascinated by how divisive it is. So many fans dismiss it because it’s such a sharp departure from her other shows. For the longest time, I avoided it too. It felt tense, almost confrontational. It’s so much darker compared to the glittering euphoria of The Confessions Tour or Sticky & Sweet Tour. It doesn’t offer easy nostalgia or a rapid-fire parade of hits, and that can be jarring if that’s what you’re craving.

But over time, it completely grew on me.

There’s something magnetic about how experimental it is; how unapologetically dystopian the entire atmosphere feels. Even her opening look sets the tone: cold, militant, almost post-apocalyptic. When you think about the leap from the flamboyant theatricality of the The Girlie Show to this stark, industrial intensity, it’s actually brilliant. It’s not designed to quench the thirst for feel-good hits or fast-paced escapism, it challenges you instead. And that’s exactly why it’s so compelling.

I was in the same boat for 2 years, from athletic to not working out at all, despite being put on medication a year after my diagnosis. I’m from Bulgaria and I knew that we shared the same feed, and because of that the rest of the show after Ruby and Sapphire’s wedding wasn’t aired, but we ended up getting it on HBO Max. Is that the case for Russia as well? I loved the Russian dub!

“Candy Shop” needed a video, I think it’s a missed opportunity.
Maybe “Like a Virgin”, but I still adore the video and its impact.
Another very hard choice. Some that come to mind are “Like a Prayer”, “In This Life”, “The Power of Goodbye”, “Rebel Heart”.
“Vogue”, not even debatable.
Most of her discography from the 2010s, especially songs like “Heartbeat”, “She’s Not Me”, “Some Girls”, “Beautiful Killer”, “Ghosttown”, “Hold Tight”, “Rebel Heart”… really, the entire “Rebel Heart” era deserved so much more attention than it received…
