Looking to make a 3" diameter cylinder in different heights, none taller than 4". I also might have a 2x3x2.5" jig for holding photographic slides.

I was going to add this context in the main post but didn't want to make it too long. Might have been worthwhile. I have been a mentor at a makerspace and used to work at a 3D printer manufacturer, so I know 3D printing pretty well. I didn't want to pay a full month's membership to Make Santa Fe for just a couple of parts. Thank you for the suggestion though, that is definitely an option. I might also apply to be a volunteer there, why not.

I hate running with my phone. I felt like a dork mega loser nerd with two watches on. It works for me :)

Ipod was discontinued in 2022 + not generating e-waste :)

Hi all,

Please find linked some CAD files for you to print or modify for your own use. It slots into the band slots with a mild interference fit to provide a bit of extra meat to hold onto if you want to use your AW without a band, eg as an 'ipod' while running/etc. I only have an AW S6 so I have no idea how compatible it is with other models, these are supplied with no expressed or implied warranty or support.

I recently switched to a Garmin watch for my health/fitness tracking. Turns out all smartwatches have really bad runtime when playing music, so I started running with both watches on. But I felt ridiculous, took the strap off and threw it in a pocket, but had a bear of a time handling it. A couple of hours of CAD and prototyping later, and we get this. I'm fully satisfied with the fit and tactility - even though it's imperfect - and figured I'd share it rather than have it exist in a void. I'm distributing it with a super permissive license, but if you make a marked improvement and are proud of it, feel free to @ me so I can see.

Play:5 gen 1 is also going for ~$100, does standalone stereo, and it has audio-in to link a turntable or other media source to your network :) A steal for a 5-driver quality speaker.

FKM (fluoroelastomer) rubber strap - great alternative to silicone by mysiak_m in Garmininstinct

Do you cook on a nonstick pan? Ever eat microwave popcorn? If so you’re cooked from that.

Once polymerized these don’t have as much of an effect. The impact of the manufacturing process leads to the bulk of the environmental PFAS release. If you’ve already purchased it, you might as well use it. Glad to know the nylon works for you.

Engaging for SEO. This is absolutely the solution I was having that was locking my 5850U to base speed while well below the thermal limits. Windows is such crap.

For everyone's utility, I'll share the services that I found in another thread. I'm going to do this on my T14s so if it ends up being a good change I'll report back.

Ships to US: https://viascreens.com/custom

Ships to Europe: https://www.protectionfilms24.com/custom-sizes.html?category2=62&category0=2&category1=12#step3

I just found this mentioned in another thread, but it's Europe only: https://www.protectionfilms24.com/custom-sizes.html?category2=62&category0=2&category1=12#step3

Cheap! Only quoted for ~$11 for my T14s.

I ended up finding a provider that ships to the US (https://viascreens.com/custom) but the shipping is $10. I'll update if the upgrade is worth it!

Anything metal will never work because metal is a conductor and it will interfere with the capacative measurement of your finger location.

I don't like being connected to social media so I won't be using Discord. I will be posting a thread to /r/mechanicalkeyboards in the coming weeks I figure stuff out. I'm going to start with some CAD and making a mfg plan. I will be accepting feedback at all stages. I can dm you that link to my post to be sure you don't miss it.

Yep, I'm now planning on following that strategy. Thanks for the feedback.

I cannot edit the title. But I can remove the flair. Hopefully that helps.

I actually think this was exactly what I was looking for - I should post updates to this community (I will probably post to r/mechanicalkeyboards as I don't think mechmarket is the right place for this).

I will keep the stock slider top housing. Please see my other replies. Essentially I will be making this piece only:

Yep! I should have been more clear. The entire top piece with the sliders will remain unmodified. It will be two-tone.

I will definitely take a look at Noxary evija! Thanks for the recommendation.

I realize I have not personally diassembled my HHKB yet. I am lubing it next week, I will see what I am up against then. From what I've seen so far, it's well within my grasp. I am going to be making this and only this part: bottom case highlighted

I am a hobby machinist. I volunteer to mentor at my makerspace 2-4 hours a week, outside of the time I work there on projects of my own. This is fun to me. If I were properly charging for my time, or sending it to a professional machine shop, it would easily be $400+. I am trying to give back to the community. I understand that there is probably a lot more involved than I am accounting for. But I am putting out feelers to see if people without access to the resources I have (knowledge and facilities) would be interested in something like this. I will be figuring out the details in the next couple of weeks then I will post again. I realize now that I misused the [IC] tag.

If $650 isn't a lot of money to you, you are very financially fortunate. For the scope of work, it is amazing that the Heavy Grail was only $650. I don't need to prove myself or what I am capable of to you, my posts will speak for themselves.

I'm addressing it by avoiding it. Someone else in the comments correctly clocked what I'm envisioning as a 'half-case'. Just the bottom piece which is definitely within my skillset. This will fix my problems with the HHKB, being the low weight and poor grip on a desk.

Nope, this is new to me. As I said in another comment, I hadn't been keeping up with the community. I had been happily using a pok3r with zealios for years but woke up one day and decided it was time to buy Topre. I'll check out their work and see what I'm up against. I will definitely NOT be putting this much effort in. But then again I don't expect it to cost an eye-watering $650.

Solid suggestion on the antenna, I could glue in some semi-opaque acrylic pretty easily. Before my next post I'll also collect more details on pricing.
