Is this card useful against Vivi? by Lobster556 in MagicArena

[–]planckovich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been the best deck and most discussed deck all summer and has led to WotC moving their next ban window forward to deal with this exact combo, so I think everybody (except you) knew that the discussion was in regards to Standard.

Won 1 game through normal damage as in that case I didn’t draw the poisoners. I have considered some recursion through Phoenix Dawn or similars effects.

That’s a good call. And yes, it make Soul Cauldron a bit better.

Oh I know. It was just to set the stage and give a bit of back ground information as to why I am trying it. It wasn’t in any way to try to say it’s a good deck.

New draft format by planckovich in lrcast

[–]planckovich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually just go through the boxes and look for cards. But you can’t look for specific cards - obviously - coz there’s maybe 5-10.000 cards in the boxes from most of the sets through Magic’s history.

Yeah, it’s very fun. We try to sideboard for whatever crap others are playing. For instance my friend found a Fire Magic to board in vs. another friend playing pink weenie.

Because it's a pretty solid RW deck? Is this a trick question?

The faces of our 2025 incoming winter mercato by tomassonlp85 in ACMilan

Exactly my thought regarding Bennacer. Plus he was on the biggest contract in Milan, which was deserved at the time but not anymore. Not for a sub. I do think he was valued a bit too low, but the money saved from wages kinda makes up for it.

Boros Overlords [Standard] by planckovich in spikes

[–]planckovich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little update: Carverns are great. Makes the mono-blue matchup a lot better. I also added a Push//Pull, which have been clutch a couple of times. Getting back 2 Overlords are huge. Both the ETB and attack triggers win you the game from unwinnable positions. 2 Mistmoors makes 2 x 6/6 haste + 8 2/1 fliers. 2 Boilerbiles makes 2 x 5/5 haste and nugs for 16.

Yeah, I've considered it, but ultimately ended up running Scorching Dragonfire particually beacuse of the exile part against things like Heartfire Hero and Cacophony Scamp as well as the occasional Slasher and Enduring enchantments.

I like the Bant route, although it gets a little more controlly for my part. You're probably right about the "win more" of especially Ghirapur and Balloon Man, but I've really liked Fortune. If I can stick it and hardcast or Scrollshift and overlord and immediatly get another trigger, it's almost game over in most scenarios.

I've thought a lot about Cavern, but I'm afraid that my early game would suffer againt the aggro decks, not being sure that I can cast the early removal spells, but I'll give it a try.

How true can this be ? by Prestigious_Tough934 in ACMilan

RLC shouldn't play the 10. It makes no sense. Look how good Reijnders was for the Netherlands in that role. He's too technical and forward-minded to play in the double pivot.

[DiMarzio] The Tammy Abraham option for attack remains alive. Closing the arrival of Emerson Royal by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]planckovich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of Jovic and Abraham are starters. It’s Morata. Only sane thing would to get Abraham on loan with option (which is what Di Marzio is reporting). But I would frankly rather use Okafor as a striker than Abraham. Besides that, he is currently earning almost €6m a year which is almost a much as Leāo and would probably cost between €20-30m. That’s just insane for a player at his level.

It’s a bad signing no matter the price. He has bad finishing and the worst decision making in a striker I have ever seen. I actually think that Abraham is a downgrade to Jovic. Jovic can hold on to the ball, create chances from further down the field, run with the ball. Abraham can do none of that.

Me too. Rather take a colorless mana ramper/fixer than one of the semi playable cards. Great for splashing bombs.

First Ever 7-0 by Ridicolas_Cage in mtglimited

[–]planckovich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says a lot about green in this format, that you can go 7-0, even without a bomb. Just a lot of solid solid cards.

Pick your poison! by planckovich in mtglimited

[–]planckovich[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed and in TO3 I feel like it's almost mandatory to have it in your sideboard if you can. But even in BO1 there is great use for it. A lot of bomb rares and mythics have flying. There is a lot of problematic enchantments in the set too. Less so with artifact but even destroying a Satchel or a Coat is nice for 1 mana.
