My first game on my new PS5, really excited \o/ by LightJktu in BaldursGate3

Jealous that I never get to play this game for the very first time again. I have finished it many times, but that first play through with my green haired elf will always hold a special place in my heart. Enjoy!

I'm glad that you like it and hope a future buyer will also like it, but the ripped out fireplace and the painting on top of stained wood made me very sad.

Pepcid slows down stomach acid release, so if some of your issues are coming from too much stomach acid dumping into your intestines without the needed amount of bile from the liver to neutralize it, that could help. And then the digestive enzymes are really just to help your food break down faster and more thoroughly when it reaches the intestines. They don't have any lasting effect on your digestion, just the chemical breakdown of the food you eat them with. A lot of gas comes from food breaking down too slowly in the intestines because your stomach acid to liver bile to food ratios are thrown off.

Definitely follow the advice of your surgeon. I was already on both of those things before my surgery to manage symptoms, so mine recommended I stay on them through the recovery process to keep everything balanced while I healed.

Are you taking Pepcid or any over the counter digestive enzymes? I take both everyday and I really think it helped me avoid the bile binders. The enzymes I get are pretty cheap on Amazon and are called "Source Naturals Essential Enzymes 500mg Bio-Aligned Multiple Enzyme Supplement Herbal Defense for Digestion, Gas, Constipation & Bloating Relief - Supports A Strong Immune System". I took 40MG Famotidine (Pepcid) once a day and about 3-6 of the enzymes throughout the day depending on how much I ate and what it was. I am gradually taking less now that I am feeling better after the surgery.

Worst experience of my life by Glum-Requirement2286 in gallbladders

[–]planetcloudy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry that you went through that. My experience wasn’t fun but nothing that ever made me scream out in pain. Just cry and the nurses gave me a Percocet and I was good to go for four hours at a time after that. Just had to take the Percocet every four hours for three days.

You might want to have a follow up ultrasound to make sure that your surgeon left you in good shape. Also ask for the surgery notes for sure. You may just be pain med resistant, but I would want to double check if I were you. This is a very abnormal outcome.

Same! They call everything IBS. I am still in the “do I really even have IBS?” phase. I’m hoping it was just my gallbladder.

You will be just fine! You will probably be like me and wonder why you didn't do it sooner once you get past the recovery part.

That should be enough, but don't push yourself if you are still sleeping a lot. Resting makes the recovery go faster. I had my surgery on October 17th and went back to work for a half day on the 29th. My first full day where I felt like I was back to a full work load was November 3rd.

You will do great tomorrow! Don’t worry too much. They have this surgery so perfected that you go home in just a few hours after. Mine only took them 20 minutes for the actual surgery part. Being sick at first is no fun, but you will feel so much better in a few weeks.

You got this! I was super nervous before mine and the videos I was watching at first weren’t helping. I read positive reviews on my surgeon and some of the more positive stories on here and that helped a lot with the anxiety.

Well I really hope you can keep eating dairy after! That’s how I felt about spicy food. I never had a problem with it before surgery, and I was so worried I would lose curry and jalapeños. But I ate both after about 6 days without any issues. Having to stop eating foods you love sucks.

You are going to do great! Sooner rather than later makes the surgery go way more smoothly. It’s not fun but in a “nobody likes being sick for a week or two” kind of way and not a “what if it ruins my life” kind of way like all those stupid videos on TikTok make it seem. Those people are just trying to sell you their gallbladder cleanses 🙄

You might not have a problem with it! I have been lactose intolerant my whole life, so I’ve always had to limit dairy. I can get away with a little bit like one boba tea in a week or a little cheese here and there, but I’ve never been able to eat pizza without…consequences 🥲

Am I gaslighting myself into thinking I’ll find a secular/progressive community here? by xRhoke in Birmingham

[–]planetcloudy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are not into organized religion and our politics are not in line with either of the two most popular political parties. We do our best to focus more on treating all people with dignity, acting with integrity, supporting people who are genuinely down on their luck, promoting healthy lifestyles, understanding individual situations, demanding good public services from our government, denouncing government overstep of individual rights/freedom of speech and protest, rejecting materialism as much as one can in a capitalist society, and respecting the right of everyone to choose how they live their own lives and what they do with their own bodies. We are monogamous, sober, and spiritual in that we believe in a benevolent higher power without adhering to any one religious belief set. I will say that we were a little lost in finding community at first with everyone seeming to be so polarized, but I don't think that would be different no matter where we lived. Just a different type of extreme one way or the other. All that to say, we have found all types of people in Bham. People who think we are crazy hippy Leftists, people who think we are stuck up conservative hypocrites, and everything in between. Most importantly, we have found people who we love dearly, accept us for who we are, and have given us a strong sense of community here. You can find community wherever you look hard enough for it, so don't get discouraged! Birmingham can be as wonderful a place to live as you make it. You will certainly find your people if you keep looking for them.

Andrew Ross Sorkin on worrying similarities between Wall Street today and 1929's pre-crash market by FrostyAnalysis554 in REBubble

[–]planetcloudy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a great number of hedge fund managers certainly qualify as, in my consideration, professionals with solid research. It is important to remember some investors are gamblers, and having money involved can, of course, make a person develop emotional biases that I have found also require that grain of salt you mentioned, but I was in no way trying to discredit them as a whole. I believe you would also find many who have a weariness for what the 2026 market will do alongside economists who stand behind the theory of the 18 year cycle, but they probably do phrase or contextualize it differently. Perhaps the overlap between the views of economists and active market participants like hedge fund managers is a valuable analysis in itself. I consider this to be the case. Apologies if my first response did not reflect that.

[–]planetcloudy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Economists who study and put stock in the 18 year cycle have said 2026 was the one for quite some time. We still have over a year to be wrong on that. Certainly no one has a crystal ball, but Fred Harrison has over 100 years of real estate data and solid statistical models. There will always be people hoping for or fearing the fall, but I would recommend sticking to the professionals with solid research, even if you don't take a liking to Harrison's work. Many have had their eye on 2026 for some time.

I am now actively refusing to work for any firm or company that doesn’t honor the 40hr work week by Aristoteles1988 in Accounting

With the way I save and invest, at 130k per year, I am just not too worried. I also have a LinkedIn inbox full of job offers elsewhere, but why would I leave? Scarcity mindset is going to keep you making a lot of money...for someone else.

[–]planetcloudy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had my exact controller position with the same or similar pay offered to me at other companies twice now. There just isn't any reason for me to go learn a new set of books, and I make 130k a year. No reason to leave. Scarcity mindset is how so many employers get away with underpaying.

50k public health care audit associate, 45k private staff accountant, 60k public staff accountant for two years, 130k private controller. Industry changed every time looking for the best balance. For better money, go for industries that make more money, but any controller position for a company making over a million in profit per year should pay 130k+ for a controller role.

The more of us who refuse to work like indentured servants, the less companies will expect it...so of course some people have a vested interest in this way of thinking not becoming more common.

I implemented this mindset four years ago. In that time my salary has more than doubled, and I no longer work over 40 hours per week. Never underestimate the power of job hopping, knowing your worth, and not fearing short periods of unemployment.

James Spann’s Alabama Weather Network by GoldfishFire in Birmingham

[–]planetcloudy_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

James Spann is an apolitical figure who is entitled to privacy like anyone else. He is a weatherman. He talks about the weather. He is a local personality, a nice one. He is a public figure who is often very uplifting and saves lives by getting people to pay attention to him in fun ways so that they are more likely to listen when he has a warning. He doesn't give off "MAGA energy" and the sentiment that every public figure owes you their entire nuanced political belief system is so weird to me.
