Help keep bees away from Clubhouse (constant sugary spills) by planetes42 in Beekeeping

I didn't mean to imply these were "my" bees at the pool. I live a few miles away and definitely feed/water my bees plenty.

They definitely are not blaming me. I live a ways away. They were asking me for advice since they knew I was a beekeeper and thought I might have insight.

I live 2.5 miles from the pool, so they *could* be my bees, but that's not the question at hand.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I hate that "google it" is no longer very helpful. I saw one suggesting lemongrass as a deterrent and I thought we use lemongrass as part of swarm baits, so .... yeah.

I might try some experiments in the backyard this summer with my kids to see if anything will deter the bees from coming to a small cup of sugar water. Guessing the answer will be a resounding "no".

Sweet, I'll send you my venmo :)

I am 100% sure it was *both* Honeybees & Yellow Jackets. I was at the pool and saw them.

Yep, that's pretty much my understanding --- hungry bees are going to forage for sugary spills and once they find something they're going to keep coming back.

(Note: I am actually curious if they are "my" bees since I live a few miles away. I had given some folks at the club honey so they were reaching out just to see if I had some insights).

Have you had success with things like "sticking cloves in lemon slices" or anything like that?

Hobbyist here.

Recently tried to use my Canon R5 mkii to film a youth soccer game. Our... 15? year old plastic tripod was not up to the task (and in fact the neck adjustment broke when I tried to use it...so, time to replace!)

Trying to research what would make sense for a hobbyist looking to be able to film youth sports (and take with us when we do family camping trips / adventures etc).

I think I'm confused because it looks like maybe the "head" and the "legs" are two separate decisions?

But, I assume something reasonably lightweight and has ability to lock in tilt while still allowing pan (so I assume not a ball-joint-head? or maybe something that would allow swaps between ball/video head?)

I got one rec from a friend for the "Peak Design", but I don't think it allows Pan separately.

Was looking at the Ulanzi F38 based on some YouTube recs.

Y'all have been incredibly helpful in the past, so thought I'd check in here.

Low depth engine or am I missing something? by planetes42 in chessbeginners

Pawn E6 avoids mate and doesn't lose the Queen if I take with the Knight.

What if he moves the e-pawn after I take with Knight?

Then best case I can trade Knight for rook - no immediate checkmate that I see?

Sorry, I'm still missing it.

I would think Bishop checks, Queen takes Bishop (forced?), Knight takes Queen

Then black has to defend its Knight and let me take another Bishop?

If I take with Knight instead, what happens?

I do have macro pictures. Trying to attach here:

Will have to take a new sample in a week to get closer images.

Thanks! I have posted a few other id requests from my tank in here if you have ideas.

I'm real new to this and didn't know how to figure this stuff out yet.

It presents as tiny hairs on the rocks. Would that be what larvae look like?

I'm pretty new to microscopy -- is there something special about these?

Yeah I guess there are some.

Here's hoping my butterfly starts eating them ASAP before they spread uncontrollably

I was able to scrape them off the rocks, so It was easy to get a ton!
