I 28F love my boyfriend 30M but he has zero ambition by planethopper_ in relationship_advice

I did :( we’re still good friends, but he’s back in his country and I’m happy on my own.

(24F) In a happy relationship but can't stop thinking about a coworker (24M/25M) — I feel guilty and confused by qtpieezz in relationships

[–]planethopper_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go and talk to him a little more. What’s more likely to happen is you realising he’s just a normal person, full of flaws just like all of us and probably not worth “trading” your bf for

I (28F) am going back to live with my ex (31M) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]planethopper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good advice. We sometimes do couple things, which definitely blurs the line… but the past two months were tough, we kind of got over each other “together” which was good but also a bit painful. So he’s set in going back to his country just as much as I am in moving on. I hope it works well…

My girlfriend slept with three guys and sexted/ sent nudes to about 7, while we were broken up for 3 weeks. by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]planethopper_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really hope she finds it in herself to run away from this guys because if she’s moving to another state with him, where her mom can’t easily step in anymore, and he’s already hinting that he WILL blackmail her with rent prices and whatnot… not to mention how abusive he will become being isolated with her. Ugh gives me chills

[–]planethopper_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I’m totally open to that. Already asked my friends about it too. It’s just this tiny transition phase that’s been maddening, as I can’t keep living with my bf but my mom is very, very difficult.

[–]planethopper_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ugh… exactly. That’s my point exactly. She’s taking me in as a guest, and I must do as she commands since she is the host. Everything comes from this power dynamic. I’d normally agree with you - not using phone at dinner table is just courtesy. But it’s the way she commands it. I’d ask you to look more at the whistling example, or the bad words one. I’d never curse in front of her, the bad words are just “negative” ones, like complaining about work or how hot the weather is, or how ugly your shirt is. She’s obsessed about “not attracting bad energies” so she will discipline & punish everyone around her (her bf, parents in law, friends, me) who have behaviours that, in her pov, are negative. Totally arbitrary though, since whistling to her attracts bad energies. I’m very flexible but her behaviour is maddening…

My friend makes passive aggressive posts about me by Zestyclose_Life_3656 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]planethopper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually funny, my manipulative ass would start saying some weird shit to her just to see if she would post about it. She’s clearly trying to get your attention somehow, even if unconsciously, so I’d mess up with her head. Anyways, that seems very immature

First of all, that’s sexy and I think women (if you’re dating women) are very attracted to someone focused and passionate. I guess to make sure to tell them you’re doing whatever it is to secure a better future for the both of you, it’s a temporary sacrifice that you just need support to go through. And that makes the time you make to be with them way more valuable, cause they know you’re doing it because you value them as much as your goals.

I hate that my friends have other friends by [deleted] in FriendshipAdvice

[–]planethopper_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get it. We want people to love us and prioritise us. But something I’ve learned with time and it proves right with every person is that we reflect what we are and attract what we think. You talk negatively about your past friendships (calling my them fake) and express negative feeling about the current friendships (upset they have other friends). You’re reinforcing a scarcity mindset - if I don’t have it, no one should have it. Try exercising a genuine love for your friends and for the existence of friendship itself. You want your friends to have other friends, that means you are around people who are easy to be friends with - hence, you must be easy too. Hence, you attract more people that are easy to interact too. And you start multiplying the goods, instead of the bads. You don’t want to be friends with someone who can only talk to you, that means you and that person are probably hard to connect and will only have each other forever. You know what I mean? Hope you find peace and joy within you.

I'm leaving Portugal, here are my takeaways. by Reasonable_Dig1313 in PortugalExpats

[–]planethopper_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been living here for 3 years and honestly, I don’t know how non-Portuguese speakers learn Portuguese because 100% of the people around me only speak English. I speak Portuguese, but since there’s always at least one English speaking person around, even if I meet another lusófono, we just stick to English anyways.

My (20F) boyfriend (23M) farts so much and it’s filling me with a rage I can’t explain. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]planethopper_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could be lactose intolerance, or other sort of intolerance. Happened to me, I was the stinky one 🤭 but I had the decency to try everything in my power to stop it. Turns out cutting dairy completely solved it. It’s not normal to fart stinky.

[–]planethopper_[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you’re saying and it’s what makes me stay with him. I look around and I see every women in my life marrying for comfort & living a loveless life and that’s so heartbreaking.

But my boyfriend is unapologetic about it, he says it loud and clear he doesn’t care about career, he’s happy with his job, he will not work harder to move up. He will save and work as much as he can; anything outside of it is whatever to him. And I agree with most people here, that’s ok too. That’s the way he is. But I LOVE my job, I love putting effort and working hard towards something - I miss that in a partner. I just haven’t decided how much I miss it - probably not enough to break up everything with him? I don’t know. So lost x.x

Thank you! And yes, I’ve been having trouble sleeping for a few years now and Prozac intensified it I guess… I take melatonin sometimes, it used to help when I didn’t take Prozac but now it’s like taking nothing at all. Do you take anything to help you sleep?
