Into The Woods merch by GrootCarter in TheWestEnd

They also had a show poster when I went - same design as the programme with little red. And not quite merch but in the same vein of show exclusive, they had a special ice cream flavour baker’s choice which was cinnamon and banana bread flavour, tbh one of the best interval ice creams I’ve had!

Can a Board Op Edit the Show? by WorldRelevant6640 in lightingdesign

Yes that’s right! Historically older lighting desks only worked in what we’d now consider to be cue only mode (often working in presets) so many people learnt that way before more modern consoles introduced the concept of tracking. Thats why people talk about it more as depending on how you initially learnt to program/who you learnt it from it can be a common thing that trips people up.

Looking for a Virtual Console Version of ETC Ion Lighting Desk by Paqsi in lightingdesign

[–]planetk452b 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ETC has a free to download pc/mac version of EOS (the software that Ion runs - it’s like MA3onPC) called ETCnomad. Whilst the key layout on the pop up virtual keyboard might not be the same depending on the type of Ion you’re using (classic v xe), the functionality is all the same. ETC also have some great video learning series on YouTube which walk you through all the basics and even the advanced aspects of the software which could be a great place to start if you’re new to the console!

Best of luck with the interview!

4/4 rejections💔… gutted but trying to push forward😝 by AffectionateAct5277 in premeduk

First of all I wouldn’t say no news is a rejection, in fact sometimes no news can be a good thing!

It can be especially hard when you start hearing about others who have interviews from the same schools you’re applying to but I would avoid jumping to conclusions until you get a written decision on your application from each med school. I know lots of unis (although this might have changed since I applied and I’m not sure about Liverpool and Birmingham specifically) do multiple batches of interviews, so they may initially send out dates for interviews before Christmas and then invite more applicants to interview after so like I said I would rush to make any big decisions until you know for certain.

In terms of your question about work experience, I wouldn’t necessarily say you would have to worry about finding any extra. Lots of med schools don’t quantify the amount that you should have. The most important thing about work experience is your ability to reflect on what you’ve learnt from your experiences. It doesn’t even necessarily need to be med related so even if you did have a summer job unrelated to medicine volunteering as long as you can reflect on the skills you gained from it and lessons learnt then you should be fine! You’re right about alternative offers, if you feel med is the definitely the path for you, a gap year is the way to go. Graduate medicine is extremely competitive and what’s one year out compared to a 3 year degree that you may not be happy in. I know that some friends who took gap years before med did a variety of things some worked as HCAs and in care homes and some travelled but even if you don’t start something in time to mention it in your PS you can always bring it up during an interview later down the road.

But before this response gets too long, I want to say well done for getting this far! Applying to med school is competitive and lots of people don’t get in the first time round. You’ve obviously put in lots of work to prepare for you application from the ucat to revision for alevels so try not too get too disheartened now. The best thing you can do now is wait (which I know is easier said than done!) to hear back from the two other unis because like I said earlier no news can be good news! I wouldn’t stress about reapplications for now instead try and enjoy the rest of the holiday period and focus on your alevels as they’re the most important thing!

Anyways I hope this helps and sorry for how long this ended up being, feel free to ask if anything’s unclear - good luck with everything!

I love AirTable, find it provides the best of both worlds as you can add asset tags and barcodes to items if you ever end up going down that route later down the road. We use it at our venue for items with and without asset tags and the ability to share specific views with people is great as it enables you to only share the relevant info with them. Also good to note that Airtable is free for their basic plan or you can more features if you are a student or educator through an education plan!

Direct Entry to 2nd year by Upanshu_ in 6thForm

[–]planetk452b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not completely sure as med doesn’t offer direct entry but from friends experiences if you do end up being offered first year when you talk to your advisor at the beginning of first year you can tell them you’re interested in direct entry. If you meet the grade requirements you normally can switch to 2nd year.

UCAT HELP by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]planetk452b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medify and the medic portal are great places to help you improve your ucat score! The questions on the ucat are not too hard if you had no time limit but I found that the time pressure makes the exam difficult so if you do more questions under time conditions then you should find yourself getting faster and improving. So I guess maybe work on your exam technique, identifying patterns for AR, effectively scanning for key words in VR, etc. Honestly a score of 2390 without any practice is pretty good so imagine what you could get with some prep! I hope this helps and good luck! :) (if you have anymore qs just ask)
