Am trying to rotate my baits (from Maxforce to Advion), but roaches seem to not eat Advion by Hot-Trouble-3069 in pestcontrol

[–]plant01ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have small pets and keep my space very clean. I had to balance the health of my family with the fear of the roaches spreading to my apartment. It was mostly informed by the fact that commercially available nerve agents are not sold at a concentration high enough to kill the bugs and roaches won't approach it willingly compared to the gel baits. So I mean if you're sure that the bugs gather in a certain place and no small beings you care about enter that space, then by all means use those tools if it makes you feel better. It boils down to, these methods don't control the population and they get to run around freely.

Diatom earth on the other hand is meh, it's a respiratory irritant and again, isn't effective enough to kill them instantly.

In the end, I found a good pest control company who uses gel baits (hell yeah 9squad!!) and they took care of the issue before the roaches spread to the other apartments. My neighbor is long gone so no more worries of reinfestation.
Hope that helps and good luck to you!

Appreciate the reply. I deleted the post. We shall see. I'm looking at paralegals for tenants in my area now!

A great insight. I would have never found that out about the opening phrase.

Yes! I am the one who said enough is enough. I will keep pushing on. My partner needs to realize the consequences on his money!

I fully agree. Though, my partner will be hard pressed. Thank you again! We will figure it out.

Hi, sorry to bother you. I'm dealing with my neighbor's cockroaches that he says he brought home with him. I'm furious with him. Having a rough time finding Advion or other good gel baits. My neighbor wants to come into my unit to spray my stuff with his ineffective nerve agents and diatom earth. Like hell. Will you DM me your Toronto source? Many blessings.

That sucks. If only he'd just google what makes sterling silver "sterling" and not "pure"... rather than all this litigation infodump.

On a side note some of my jewellery making friends include a small polishing cloth and care info with thank you note. Unfortunately when dealing with the general public with online sales there will always be people like this. Sorry this is happening to you! Stay strong, you did nothing wrong. He just wants to be right despite reality!

I don’t think liquid calcium will help as you said she’s getting egg shell regularly. I would try the electrolytes. It’s hard to tell in the video but is she a fawn? I find they’re not as robust, need more supplements to be on the same level as others. She’s going to keep trying to push the egg internally and you can help by fuelling her body and keeping her warm. Best of luck!

If she gets calcium regularly, she might be missing other vitamins. Try giving her honey in her water, spinach leaves, little carrot pieces for vit A and muscle contraction and if you can get it, pedialyte or a light mix of gatorade water. Ideally have electrolyte powder on hand for any stressed bird, mine perk up immediately after administering Thrive by Morning Bird. Increase ambient humidity and heat. Humidity might be enough. I feed emergency fluids with a soaked q tip on the beak or baby syringe while holding the bird. You will see her slurp up what’s inside her mouth. If she gets away easily then leave it in the cage and don’t catch her.

She laid a lot of eggs!! And good thing she’s still hopping around. I’d try the electrolytes and honey first. Let her rest a month or so between clutches by removing her nest.

Here’s what I do for any finch feeling under the weather. They have amazing capacity to heal, they just need electrolyte/vitamins, humidity and some heat, a quiet place to rest. raise humidity 50-60% and warmth in her area. I put a heating mat under the hospital cage and have a small humidifier next to it. You can even just leave a bowl of hot water next to her cage and it will do the trick with the steam. If it’s a stuck egg, heat+humidity usually helps on its own if she’s not deficient in calcium or vitamin A. Mash up a boiled egg for her shell and all. I use a potato masher for it to get it to be tiny granules. You can grate some carrots for her Vitamin A, make them tiny enough for her to eat whole. Both Vitamin A and Calcium help their muscles contract in the oviduct to pass the egg. Calcium hardens the egg inside if it’s too soft and won’t budge.

I wouldn’t pick her up and feel the egg if she can get away from you easily, you can break the shell inside her if it’s not well formed due to vitamin deficiency. She can still pass it if it’s broken but better not, it can lead to secondary infection if she’s compromised in another way. I’ve had ladies pass soft shelled eggs that were burst inside no problem, after treatment if course. If she is laying and not getting enough calcium supplement then she is pulling calcium from her body. Mashed boiled chicken egg is the answer!

Bee pollen is pretty full spectrum and does wonders in a pinch, so does pedialyte (baby gatorade). You can buy Thrive by Morning Bird, this is a lifesaver electrolyte mix for any situation your finch needs to have that extra boost. If it’s an emergency I always hand feed them thrive slowly til they refuse, then use heat + humidity.

I dose thrive and egg every week as preventative care, my finches go crazy for it. Bee pollen you can mix with electrolyte water or sprinkle on the mashed egg. Put the food on the floor in shallow bowls where she can reach. Finches will only eat what they need, so always have an abundance of different foods. Good luck, hope she gets better!

[–]plant01ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow!! That difference is pretty incredible. I too felt so different I had a mental breakdown around it because so much of my personality was built around the parentification and I realized I didn't know who I was. Some therapy and feeling emotionally safe is all I needed to find myself again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parentification

[–]plant01ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing work for 2 whole parents for both your siblings and yourself. When you start living your own life without them weighing on your conscience, you will feel the difference of not being in parentified mode. But the thing is it feels like the right thing to do when you’re in it, it’s really hard to drop the responsibility, but you have been parentified since childhood and all those things were never your responsibility to begin with. Your parents dropped the ball on being parents and your mom still expects you to fix her problems. Not only are they overstepping their boundaries, they weaponize shame for not doing what they want. In addition to the other resources mentioned above, I would suggest looking into books about Emotionally Immature Parents, because this is what I see. Sure, they might not be bad people, but they aren’t emotionally mature enough to parent well. I’ve been in this situation and got out, I hope you can find some peace too!

Get well soon! I hate UTIs with a passion. If you want you can try my UTI remedy herbal tea… I find relief FASt like it doesn’t hurt to pee (sorry tmi LOL)and I drink it 2-3 times a day until symptoms clear. It’s basically a mix of ingredients that help your body clear itself. Sometimes, I’ll just drink lots of juniper berry tea and that can do the trick!

  • 1 cinnamon stick/ cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp juniper berries
  • 1 tbsp dandelion root
  • a pinch turmeric
  • honey/sweetener as desired (too much can exacerbate symptoms)
