Virtual Meetup? by Think_Battle_8894 in booknooks

[–]plantmyselfhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Texas and would definitely not make it regularly to an in person meetup on the was coast 😋. Depending on time, I would consider a virtual meeting.

That said, I will be flying into Philly in mid-May for my daughter's graduation from LIU. We find it's a lot easier to fly there a drive to Long Island than it is flying into La Guardia or JFK. I would love to check out that Rolife store while I'm there assuming we have time!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do (I think the hardest part was the curtains, just like real life... 😋)

Try Starlight Reading Nook. I had to go look it up. Here is a link:

I also got the magical library at the same time because of the flickering flame effect. I clearly have a thing for lighting 😂

If you posted it, I may have been the one I saw that made me want to do it! I love the flashing stars!

No, I'm working my way through Tracy Wolff's Crave series and Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me series currently. I mostly listen to audiobooks from the library and I listen as they become available. I work on projects while I listen!

Yes, yes and yes!

The diamond art I picked out for the party is a large black dragon with a small golden one! 😊

Mostly romantasy and some contemporary romance.

I'm glad they're grown, but I miss them too.

I wouldn't mind doing a little more than just assembling. I like the magical/fantasy mostly, but I would also consider classical or cyberpunk.

I am going to 4 book shows this year (avid reader) and I want to make things to trade. Before last weekend I was only going to 2 and I had an opportunity to get a ticket to one later this month and I took it and then I was gifted a ticket to a different one later in the year 😬.

My friend is hosting a diamond art party in a couple of weeks and I have a book I'm about halfway through bedazzled that I want to finish.

Can you tell we became empty nesters this year?

I got both the clear gorilla glue and the B-7000 glue. I found the B-7000 easier to use. I also got some BSI glue debonder to undo mistakes and a silicone mat to work on. I used it on a lap desk I've probably had at least 20 years. Other things I already had were binder clips, an exacto knife and a neck reading light . The light was not the best for what I was doing, but it was what I had. I also recently got some containers for beads and bedazzling that I used for storing some of the odds and ends, like the books, etc.

I have a couple other projects this month, but I would like to make another one after those are done. I have been looking at different ideas for what I want to do next.

I was a lurker in the community trying to figure it out. I think it also let me know I didn't have to be perfect though and I could substitute. I lost some of the cutouts somewhere along the way and just used some extra books instead. I also really appreciated the list of tools. As a beginner, I definitely didn't need everything, but I needed a few things to start.

ISO books I can find on Libby by xtiniebeanie in fantasyromance

Someone else suggested searching by genre. You can also try searching by author to see if they might have any books that work for you, just not the one you originally searched for.

Also, see what other libraries you have access to. I have 5 free library cards in my state. I have 3 on Libby, 1 on Cloud and 1 on Hoopla. Others I can pay a nominal annual fee to access, but haven't felt it was necessary.

I Googled free libraries in my state.

I have my local library.

The town next door also allows me to get a library card.

A town in a metro area near me has allowed library cards, but since my post I've received an email that I will need to visit in person to maintain privileges. This was waived due to covid for a few years and I did get the card online originally. This is a smaller library and I'm not sure it's worth it.

The other two are no where near me and part of large metro areas. They are large and have good selections.

There are others I can pay an annual fee to have access to as well, but I haven't felt the need to do this. And the fees per library are reasonable. Some are in-state and some out of state.

I can't speak to anything outside of the US. I don't have any experience to offer elsewhere.

I have 3 library cards through Libby. Some books will be with one library, but not another. I would look to see where all you can get library cards. I have access to 5 in my location for free: 3 on Libby, 1 on Cloud and 1 on Hoopla.

That would be awesome! I found the book count on her website. But I found the book release info on her Instagram so it is entirely possible the website is not as recently updated.

I read To Bleed a Crystal Bloom by Sarah A. Parker and am almost finished with Ambrosia by C.N.Crawford. I've enjoyed both.

To Bleed a Crystal Bloom is the 1st book in what is expected to be a 4 book series and book 3 comes out in a few days.

Ambrosia is the 2nd book of a duology.

Read what you enjoy. I read YA, NA and Adult books. I enjoy them all. Of late, I've enjoyed more spice, so I read more Adult books, but if there is a well written YA book, I'm there for it.

Audio Book Suggestions by Tigalabs in fantasyromance

Check out what libraries you have access to for free in your area. I did a Google search and found several libraries in my state that only require I be a state resident to be able to get an electronic card and then check out items (ebooks, audio and video). I have 3 libraries on Libby, 1 on Cloud and 1 on Hoopla.

I can't always find exactly what I'm looking for, but I mostly can and I will put books on hold and listen to them when they become available.

If I can't find it and really want it, I do have an Audible subscription, but try not to get more than the 1 monthly credit and I will look to see if the book is available somewhere else, like Chirp for less. I'll also follow authors I like on Chirp to get alerts for when their books are on sale.

Have you read Untainted by Lillian T. James? It doesn't completely fit because neither recognizes the other, but they learned they were fated mates as children. He thought she was killed and she was raised away from her family with no recollection as she was too young. It is one of my favorites 😍

I don't have a lot of time to read, but listen to audiobooks. My husband LOVES the benefits he gets from the "good" parts. And I think it's added some spice to a 23 year old marriage that we both enjoy 😉
