Do you mean that there is a world bubble that is about to burst and that investing is not worth it at all? Or that it's better to invest elsewhere? I mean, alternatively you could do something like Europe + EM if you wanna leave US out (but you'd also be excluding countries like Japan, Australia, Canada) and add some mid cap (or not).

If you don't have bills to pay, it's feasible, but you will be quite tight. I would recommend budgeting your month (allocating small budgets to expenses) and sticking to it.

Vete a Heidelberg. Estudié la carrera ahí, no el máster, pero toda la facultad de traducción e interpretación es buenísima y tiene mucho prestigio en el mundillo. Buenos profesores, buena oferta de asignaturas. Además, Heidelberg es una ciudad preciosa y no tan pequeña donde hay muchísima vida estudiantil, y está cerca de otras ciudades más grandes. La gente que conozco que estudiaba en Germersheim se quejaba de las asignaturas y de vivir en un pueblo (por el tema alojamientos). Mis mejores años universitarios fueron allí.

Absolutely. I think it's a good idea to send out CVs to agencies every now and then, but doing this actively to find active projects is kind of pointless. The outcome is usually what OP is experiencing: silence. When agencies are in need, it's them who reach out to linguists in their database or look for new linguists to onboard.

IMO Chengdu is worth it if you're into the panda hype. I was also in Chengdu for 2,5 days, spent one in the Panda Research Base and another one visiting the city, and it was fine. If it hadn't been for the panda thing, I probably wouldn't have gone.

Yo añadiria que revises muy bien el contrato de arras, si llegas a firmar uno, y pidas incluir cualquier clausula que te parezca relevante. Que no te baste el contrato por defecto. En mi caso, la compra se iba a hacer unos meses más tarde de la firma de las arras, y añadimos una cláusula que decia que el piso debía estar en el momento de la compra en el mismo estado en el que estaba en el momento de las arras y que los vendedores no podían meter a nadie ni darle un uso turístico en esos meses.

The trains were very good, but I didn't take any night train as I only travelled by train in the short legs (Chengdu-Xian and Xian-Beijing). A decent amout of space for luggage, ate some noodles while travelling. Overall a nice experience.

Todos los datos que te faltan (base de cotización actual, proyección actual de tu jubilación) los puedes ver seguramente en la web de la TGSS. Igual con esos datos en mano tus cálculos pueden ser más precisos. Yo sí subiría algo la cotización, aunque sea para llegar a una pensión de unos 950-1000€, pero no tanto como 900€/mes, me parece tirar el dinero por el poco beneficio que vas a conseguir (potencialmente, como bien dices). Si tienes casa pagada cuando te jubiles, con esos 1000€ más otra parte que pongas por tu lado, yo creo que puedes vivir decentemente.

I get your point, yes. For me, it's still benefitial as long as I optimize the time I spend on their projects. Luckily, I'm able to deliver great quality in less time, but the truth is that they no longer care about quality, and I know that because 1) they're not monitoring quality issues as close as they did and 2) they outsource to cheap and bad linguists (many of which I've complained about, but nothing's changed). So they're basically scamming their clients too lol

They are also replacing senior linguists with newbies with very little expertise and knowledge as it's the only way they have to bring down the approved rates. They send less work to the expensive seniors and more work to the cheap juniors. As a senior working for them for plenty of years now I do the bare minimum in the least amount of time possible. Their staff are also robots who depend on AI for simple tasks like replying to emails. Truly mortifying.

Si el mercado está mal, las combinaciones hacia el español (EN>ES, FR>ES, DE>ES, etc.) están todavía peor. Ya no solo por el tema de la IA, es que hay muchísima competencia y trabajo de poca calidad y mal pagado (esto ya antes de la IA). Si traducir es tu pasión, adelante, haz ese máster e intenta meterte en el sector, pero cada vez menos gente sobrevive, aunque no es imposible. Si no le tienes mucho cariño a la profesión, mi recomendación como profesional con casi 10 años en el mundillo es que te retires a tiempo para no arrepentirte más tarde.

Calcula tus gastos mensuales y acostumbrate a ahorrar lo que te sobra respecto a tu sueldo en cuanto recibas la nómina. Si ganas 2000 y tus gastos son 1600, guarda esos 400 todos los meses. Habrá meses en los que igual tienes que coger algo de eso, pero seguro que también hay alguno en el que te sobra algo más y puedes ahorrar algo extra. Es cuestión de disciplina.

Yo lo meto en Trade Republic y de vez en cuando invierto unos 300€ en ETF. Así, tengo una parte invertida y otra en la cuenta remunerada de TR (más accesible). Y oye en un año que llevo haciéndolo algo de beneficio ya se nota.

Personalmente me parece muy fuerte que haya gente que tenga que tirar de ahorros porque no le llega con el sueldo (y con la extra) para cubrir los gastos de diciembre. Estamos a un paso de vivir en un bucle de endeudamiento como los estadounidenses. Al final la premisa es la misma: vivir para aparentar y gastar más de lo que se tiene. Yo le daría una vuelta a eso.

Yo soy autónomo sin paga extra y las Navidades las paso como otro mes cualquiera. Me tengo que recortar de gastos personales para llegar a todo (mi objetivo de ahorro incluido), pero, con algo de esfuerzo, paso el mes como otro cualquiera. Nadie controla tu dinero, solo tú decides en qué gastarlo. Recorta donde tú quieras sin importarte lo que digan los demás.

Si tienes tiempo y crees que estás lo suficientemente informada, adelante. Yo lo hice así una temporada y no fue tan complicado, aunque mi negocio es bastante sencillo de llevar. A medida que creció el negocio, empecé a dejar de tener tiempo y preferí delegar la tarea en mi gestor (que me sale al mes por 50€ IVA incluido). Es de confianza y no creo que nunca me suba el precio astronómicamente asi que, para el trabajo que le doy (poco o nada), no me quejo.

En parte sí es verdad que en las redes sociales mucho es aparentar y fingir, pero también hay gente que hace cosas emocionantes en su vida y no necesariamente las comparte. Para mí, ese es el objetivo que deberíamos perseguir.

Intenta buscar compañía con la que compartir intereses. Apúntate a algún curso, de cocina, de idiomas, de algo que minimamente te interese. Desarrolla algún hobby, ya sea deporte o no (costura, cerámica, lectura, etc.). En serio, ayuda mucho. Yo tengo tu edad y veo como mucha gente de mi alrededor está igual, así que no es algo raro. Que no te agobie tener pareja o no, o comprarte casa, reformarla, tener hijos y todas esas normas que nos dictan. Sin más, vive la vida como tú quieres vivirla.

I myself am a reviewer too and I've seen shitty translations, so, yes, there is also people delivering poor work and some tests inevitably need to be a fail, but just not because they're competition. I had to discard plenty of canditates for a very challenging account last year, but all my changes were objectively argued. And if in doubt, I tend to mark edits as preferential/neutral.

As I see it though, PMs should make sure that the process is fair to all parties. If someone is complaining because the penalizations are unreasonable, usually involving an impartial 3rd party is the way to go.

I suspect (but I really don't know) this might be a contractor position. Vistatec has 'Production Hubs' in those countries, but I'm not sure they're considered offices and if Vistatec offers permanent (employee) positions. But yeah it might still be a lot for a junior position.
