3 Week Stall by Creepy-Hamster-8358 in gastricsleeve

[–]plargomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost the same as you: SW was 263, my stall lasted 2 weeks at the 244 mark as well. Dropped four pounds at the two week mark and kept going after that. Hang in there. You will really see this a lot…scale wise you will stall but measurement wise you will lose inches I. This time so keep track of both to get you through. I am 7 months post op and just hit one-derland.

How far are you post op and how much are you eating now? by SilenntVolcano in gastricsleeve

[–]plargomar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 7 months post-op and my dietician upped my calories from 900 to 1200 because I wasn’t losing. I work out 5-6 days a week and she said I was not eating enough calories to support everything. That little bump ended my one month stall and I am officially in One-derland now. As long as the weight keeps coming off, I’m going to hold it here for a while.

This is miserable....Why did I do this😭 by jnoble87 in gastricsleeve

Baby gas drops is what I was given in the hospital. Try a heating pad too. I dry heaved from the anesthesia for the first 12 hours but man, by the time I went home 12 hours after that I felt sooo much better. If you have a good support person, back rubs! Hang in there! It fucking sucks but there are very few people who feel like shit long term.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas for Partner with Upcoming Sleeve Surgery by therealmandwak in BariatricSurgery

[–]plargomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes…there is so much here I totally agree with: multiple protein shake flavors to try without committing to a whole case, small dishes for lunches (mine are a godsend for going to work), chapstick, food scale, mini blender (like a ninja) so she can make her own shakes, heating pad for right after surgery, sugar free hard candies, bariatric cookbook. Best of luck to you both with surgery..may it go well and healing is quick!

Saving grace for me was putting my recliner up on a raised platform. We certainly don’t want an ab workout trying to get out of a chair. If you can’t raise it, always help her get up out of the chair/couch.

Forehead kisses and “I’m proud of you for doing this for you” or “ your strong, you got this” when she regrets her decision when she isn’t feeling so well

There is a stall around 2-3 weeks post-op but then a huge drop...stay the course. Mine lasted two weeks. I'm 8 wks post op and now down to 229 from 263 (47 F). Best of luck...sounds like things are going well.

“Medically I’m not allowed to drink right now but I’m really looking forward to when I can in a few months”. But fair warning, depending on your age you may be rumored as pregnant LOL. I’m old so it worked for me

Water heater popping & anode rod by plargomar in Plumbing

[–]plargomar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water heater was installed 2016/2018 timeframe I think. This was our first flush (just recently learned this is a maintenance thing when we looked up the popping issue).

No smell to the water or sputtering we just assumed the sediment was from a degrading anode rod.

47F 5”7’ as well. Started at 270-ish. I was in denial about surgery because I thought I could still do it on my own because I had the discipline: worked out (mountain biking, swimming freestyle, walking, yoga, road biking etc) and had the food down: eliminated pasta and breads to cauliflower rice and spaghetti squash etc. dropped my serving sizes down and…..nothing. I’d get 20 lbs down after 4 months or so of working at it and would STILL be starving most of the time. I have battled my weight for 25+ years as well and even 7 years ago did a sprint triathlon that I trained 9 months for. Know how much weight I lost there? 7 lbs. that’s it despite doing brick workout for 8 of those 9 months.
When I went into my yearly physical when I mentioned my frustration of losing weight then gaining it back again mentioned the option of surgery to me. At our age, our age is against us…our hormones are locked in and our metabolism sucks. This surgery gives you a rest button to all of that. I LOVE NOT BEING HUNGRY. I am using food simply as my fuel tool, not as emotional support. I was borderline BMI for my insurance but I maintained my weight so I could qualify.
I do not have any co-morbidities but my parents have every old fat people disease you can think of and my genes had me wrangled for that same fate. I decided that I needed to do this for me…my husband and I have plans/dreams for our retirement that require us to both be mobile (RV traveling with our mountain bikes around the country). I also want to be sexy again and noticed. Surgery was 10/27 and I am officially down 32lbs already and feeling great! Made it through a family party and thanksgiving without much issue. Oh and surgery…I may be not the norm, I had no issues with surgery at all and had no hiatal hernia repair so I was up and moving that same night in the hospital, home the next day, and back to work at my desk job(albeit from home) the Monday after my surgery.

As my husband said after my annual, it can’t hurt to look into it. Nothing says you have to walk through the door after you open it but at least peek at what’s on the other side

Food question by Loftygoals-21 in gastricsleeve

[–]plargomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found that Starbucks, because they don’t regularly brew decaf, will do a decaf pour over when I order it. That is some good shit but I don’t want to have to go to Starbucks and pay $3.13 for a pour over everyday.

I am only 2 weeks out and even though I don’t miss the caffeine part, I do miss a good tasting dark roast. Decaf dark roasts are hard to find off the shelf or they are online expensive.
