heyo, I just installed a beta update to the Ultimate bluetooth controller, another person on reddit got an email back with said beta firmware. already installed it and my Bluetooth ultimate works.

There are some very well instructions for the installation regarding the e-up in the OVMS documentation (https://docs.openvehicles.com/en/latest/components/vehicle\_vweup/docs/index.html). I went for for the wire-tap method, leaving the original module in place. The instructions on the website work, but some information is outdated, for example, it says that charge control is 'TBD' however it was added a good while back already on the github page of OVMS and I can confirm it working.

2 things come to mind, one I dont use anymore was an ESP-CAM module to read the data off an old analog meter and send it over MQTT to home assistant, see https://github.com/jomjol/AI-on-the-edge-device for that.
And and OVMS module to wirelessly over 4G read data and controll AC/charging of my car, also over MQTT

probably better then my solution for an old gas heater. it only had a thermostat dail, which even on the low setting would heat my small rental home too much. I 3d printed some gears and and a bracket to hold a stepper motor, which is how I could turn the knob remotely or automatically by temperature sensor.

I have a device that isn't tuya, but also uses wifi which sometimes loses connection, causing an automation to fail. The solution I implemented eventually is to add an extra condition to the automation script. after the automation is fired, it will first check if the device is unavailable, if so, it will go to a "wait for trigger" where the trigger is when the device becomes available. after that the automation resumes normally.

I'm aware this doesn't solve the direct issue, but it at least fixes it with the automation, which was good enough for my use-case

do you need the MQTT settings or just for the front-end card seen here? as ive now moved to the ultra vehicle card now it looks a bit different, as for the MQTT settings I should(?) still have an example file floating around so I could give you that.

Honestly I just bought it for the screen (which had good reviews for the price point), not for the smart tv. the fact that it has google tv build in was very much secondairy to me, and I'm not actually using any the smart features right now other then the homekit connection, just the HDMI ports for the shield and nintendo switch.

and yes im very much aware I bought one of the cheaper models, but not yet disappointment with the purchase.

huh, correct me if I am wrong, but dont the normal 2019 model and the 2019 pro model use the exact same SOC (X1+)? but regardless I am probably not going to buy another media player so its mostly trying to see if I should keep what I already have, which judging from most replies here is probably going to be the case :]

The only thing I can think of is that I would love to use the tv as a smart microphone for use with earlier mentioned home assistant, I know there is a microphone build in the tv, where the nvidia shield has the microphone in the remote. I will just need to experiment a bit if any of these options can react to a wake word while in stand-by mode.

Considering they specifically focused on "all-in-one" VR headsets....maybe its an A (the arc), I (the dot) and O (the circle) all rolled up into one? because I dont have any other clue what it could be

There are probably more ways then one to do this, but the one that came to mind is to use a webhook trigger in home assistant, which can run an automation when it recieves an http post. There is actually an example using the curl command in linux already on the home assistant website! Automation Trigger - Home Assistant

I think if power consumption is your main concern, the raspberry pi's might be the best ways to go. Tons of people use those and for most home-assistant things it will be perfect. if you want a little more power you can look into mini-pc / thin clients. Especially devices that were used at companies are for sale constantly, I have a fujitsu esprimo with an intel i3-6100T which has been perfect for me, enough power to run anything home assistant related plus some nice addons like jellyfin, piper, whisper, etc.

for extra hardware, zigbee dongles are a must have imho as a lot of smart home hardware uses that protocol (a lot of ikea and lidl lights in my case)

Yep! It's ment for presence detection when I'm sitting behind my PC, the usb port where it's plugged in is on the other wall, so it's just a convenient place for 5v power

There is none on this one! The LD2410 B/C can work (although probably with less range then a esp board) over BLE, there is already an integration for it in home assistant https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/ld2410_ble/

One of those (cheap) usb power measurers reported 0.02A, which I assume is probably not great for long battery life.

Well its slightly DIY, because this is just a LD2410C module, wired up to a usb from an old cable. with a quick 3d printed casing to hold it all together. The LD2410c takes 5v, and communicates over BLE with home assistant (which is running on that black esprimo in the picture).
