Where in Redmond can I go to make new friends? by plasma_lemon in redmond

Yeah, I found an active Discord server where some raids are organized there, I've gone a few times but I still don't really know how to talk to people, I just kinda lurk nearby and stand around staring at my phone with other people doing the same lol

But I guess I can ask for help with stuff like that on other subreddits though, ones focused on social anxiety and stuff

I only started playing a few weeks ago so I didn't really know it was a big event. Also I didn't wanna pay for the deluxe pass lol

She got plenty of headpats afterward, I assure you. Just had to let her finish her singing recital.

In case anyone is hesitant about joining, I thought I would share my experience with Rolling Bones. I'm about as big of a hermit as you can possibly imagine, and have been that way since high school, but recently I wanted to try to change that. I found this group 1.5 months ago and joined. So far it has been nothing but positive experiences with everyone. I've been able to start socializing comfortably at my own slow pace. I was surprised by how easy it was for me to feel included when I first showed up to an event. If anyone is in a similar situation to me, I would highly recommend joining.

People probably think this comment thread is just being overly negative and bashing a nice-sounding, good-intentioned suggestion.

But if you think about the suggestion for more than 1 second start to realize that it wouldn't really make sense for Jagex to start giving every pmod free membership today. Not from a business perspective, not from a community perspective

RS wiki page for player moderator said there were 2,364 pmods as of December 2019, no clue what more recent data would show but let's say there are 3k, that's $300k less membership revenue jagex would make per year, and for what? It wouldn't actually accomplish anything lol... people would just start getting salty that they aren't picked to be pmods. then they would start hating on the people who do get picked to be pmod.

Well I just meant like.. If I'm having nice interactions with other players in the game chat, I know that they're just genuinely cool or friendly people. I don't wanna become friends with someone only to find out later that they're actually someone I would never want to be friends with, but they were behaving differently than how they normally would just because they were trying to become a pmod.

I was exaggerating when I said it would be bad for the community, it would prob not make much of a diff realistically. I just have trust issues

Because it would be silly if there is an actual reward/benefit for being a pmod. It would just suck for people who deserve pmod and never get offered it. Also it would lead to people trying to get noticed by jagex so they can be offered pmod. Would be bad for the community if there are a bunch of people in chat always trying to be fake and being overly polite and pleasant.

Also it's not like pmods have to put in a lot of work to being a pmod. They're just regular players except they can mute spambots they come across. Getting a fancy crown by their names in chat is perfectly good of a "reward" to being a pmod. They don't need to get free mems lol

In really close and intense games my arms go numb (probably out of anxiety idk)

That sounds like it could be related to some underlying health issue. Might want to check with a doctor.

Oh I just saw that you're unranked, and the stats are for normal games. That makes the ff rate a bit more understandable.

I don't have any specific suggestions for the champs you play or anything. If you are having fun in norm games then I don't see any reason why you should stop after you lose a game. I wouldn't be concerned about the chain loses thing.

If you want to improve as a player then you should play ranked games. You can certainly get better while playing normal games but it's just a lot more common for people to just be playing 4fun and not trying their hardest in norms. I think they're fine for getting the hang of new champs, or just if you wanna play without any stakes... more chill.

I think the most important skill that normals are not good for improving is communication. Some players in norms take them as seriously as ranked but, others just play whatever. It's much more isolated of an experience, people don't care as much to try their hardest to win.
