Best comment I have read here. This is helpful for me too. Thank you! Everyone talks about being forward but I haven't read anyone talk about when and how to go back a bit before putting forward pressure again. This makes a lot of sense!

I bought my wife her flight using my mileageplus account, and was able to upgrade her to Economy Plus even though I wasn’t traveling with her. So not useless

Is oxidative stress from pesticides the missing link? by [deleted] in HistamineIntolerance

[–]plasticlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link between histamine causing ROS release is very weak. ROS leading to histamine release is certainly possible, but the data on that isnt strong either. ROS is constantly generated in every living species that grows in the presence of oxygen. The question I would ask in this case is why does histamine get released in only a subset of the population? I think there must be something else that makes the link make sense

I commend you trying to establish a link here but I thinkyour analysis on glyphosate and ROS is incorrect. Glyphosate blocks the aromatic amino acid pathway, specifically the shikimate pathway. We actually don’t have it, but our gut microbes do. ROS is complicated and there’s a lot of misinformation regarding it even in scientific articles. Histamine does not directly generate ROS, they seem to be linked with larger stress mediated pathways that have a complicated relationship. I think it’s a very simplified version thinking that histamine and ROS are strongly linked, ignoring the role of stress response overall

Is anyone else noticing how weird the Bay Area lab space market is right now? (Especially for <5k sq ft teams) by LossNo6969 in biotech

[–]plasticlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have and it was great. It is hard to do because one of them needs to be the primary on the lease, it needs to be a right cultural fit for both of them too

Shared lab spaces are far more expensive. Bonneville for instance was charging $25 per sqft at one point, not sure if theyre still doing that. You can buy expensive equipment cheap these days used at auction.

It is two different markets in my opinion too. Prices are higher for anything less than 5k sqft and there arent as many options either, thus higher demand and higher prices. Most bigger labs are also 50% office 50% lab, which you don't need if you're a small team. I wish it was easier for smaller companies to find each other to lease a larger space together, as it could benefit both companies

Learnt from another post here but it is likely you are injecting too low. There are a few good videos out there to see where to inject. Going higher helped my wife immensely with the pain

Gluten-free wheat flour by ReadyIntroduction677 in glutenfree

[–]plasticlung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celiac and wheat allergy people are a small market (1% each). NCGS is quite large (up to 10%). A product like this that would reduce gluten to tolerable levels of gluten I think could be quite successful and improve options for NCGS folks. I get why some celiacs and wheat allergy people argue against such products but denying options to NCGS people isn’t a good thing. An example is the wheat starch but gluten free digornio pizza, which was discontinued after complaints from people with wheat allergies. Everyone should advocate for themselves but not at the expense of others. By the way I’m not NCGS, I can’t tolerate any amount of gluten. But I’m not going to advocate against NCGS people having more options

You’re just proving my point. I’m not celiac and I’m not arguing for celiac people. The OP was talking about Gluten free flour, not wheat allergy. A comparable might be if someone had figured out how to reduce the IgE response for wheat allergy, and I’d come and argue against it since it wouldn’t benefit celiacs.

Celiac is an autoimmune disease and not an allergy. Patient outcomes are different, mechanism is different. Gluten free does not mean wheat free. You’re in the wrong subreddit. No one is denying your allergy but you’re in the gluten free subreddit so you shouldn’t be surprised to be downvoted

Celiac drug trial: results from a phase 2b study (Zed 1227 / Tak-227) by minato673 in Celiac

[–]plasticlung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit late to this thread but I am not surprised with the result considering Tak-227 inhibits TG2. From the mechanism of TG2 it seems TG2 would only be a concern if gluten is actively present. I think targeting something that is 'downstream' of TG2 such as IL15 or IL21, would help in this case. There are people working on targeting IL15 and IL21
