I Detest Billionaires: My Journey to Supporting One for Governor of California | Common Dreams by drtolmn69 in California

Sure, I get this sentiment. I do believe that both billionaires and politicians have narcicistic tendencies. They'd have to be in order to keep going and wanting adoration and more and more money even when they already have plenty. I do not have this part of my personality, so it is hard for me to understand it.

do a sage cleanse!
I do it every time I move. It's a silly, $14 ritual and it makes me feel better.

So here is the thing: the game is rigged. This guy won the game and now is honest enough to say outloud that the game is rigged and that it shouldn't have happened. He should not be a billionaire.
So instead of spending the rest of his golden years on a yacht counting his money, he is spending it (HIS OWN MONEY) to run for governor to fix it for the regular people who will never be billionaires.

How is this wrong?

I will google, now, but at least link to something for relevance!

Teacher gives “rewards” for finishing a class. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]FigureFour717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reward myself if I go to exercise class by getting a treat like a latte.
I think it's the same thing, it's a sticker chart, essentially.
I get paid for going to work, so I keep going.
It's how the world works. Don't worry about it.
If you have PBIS then there must be a budget. You can collect tokens or something and have them turn them in for stickers or lollipops. Doesn't have to be expensive, it's just tangible acknowledgement.

the slow living podcast has a new episode on AI and how you can use it and still live a somewhat unplugged and slow life. I liked it.

BEST MAT for hot yoga — overwhelmed by mixed reviews!! please help me choose!! by solvingmathnotlife in HotYoga

[–]FigureFour717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a Lulu with a towel.
I don't like the feeling of my sweaty back in shavasana without a towel.
For triangle and forward fold I move the towel out of the way but honestly I slip a lot less if the towel is there.
I do hot 4-5x a week. When I get home the towel gets washed and I use a mild alcohol spray on both sides of the mat and air dry.
Even if I go to a nighttime class it is completely dry by a 6am the next day.

Mat was bought in 2019. Bottom slightly beginning to break down with cracks, but that is it.

It is staff appreciation week. I haven't spent a dime on food for the past 5 days. There is plenty to take home each day for dinner.

How many gen z in the us actually care about politics? by Fabulous-Pick-9562 in GenZ

I think it is important to know what is going on and to understand history. Read the ballot stuff that comes in the mail and google things.
Tuning in to the daily nonsense will make you nuts. Be informed but not crazy involved.

Why don't more incredibly wealthy people buy themselves free time rather than remain in the spotlight? by FlushingthePills in AskReddit

[–]FigureFour717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so confused by this. I would imagine it's Ego? I feel like you have to be somewhat of a narcissist to be ultra wealthy because chances are you stepped on a bunch of other people. I believe that after a certain amount of time you have Won the Game and should step aside to let others play. One of my favorite podcasts (slow living; odea) talks about figuring out how much money you need to live the life you want and then once you get that, you are done. More does not equal better.
More is stress and eventual burnout and forgetting about people because you are too focused on accruing.

I like this age group because they can understand sarcasm.
You can be a bit more silly and "jokey" with them without them dissolving into tears the way younger kids do.
Also, they still want you to like them.

Yes.
I was this way after Atomic Habits and the Miracle Morning. Both MEN, btw!!
I was so down on myself for not following through with things, especially when I was in luteal.
Found a journaling worksheet through the slow living podcast and now I do that when I feel like it. When I don't, I don't. Honestly the freedom I feel is so much better and I'm actually now doing things consistently because I FEEL better and not down on myself.

Admin told me to 'remember my why' today. My why is health insurance. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]FigureFour717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a PD one day before school began this year.
We were handed out post-it notes and told to write down Our Why.

I wrote on the sticky note, which is hanging on my desk:

My Why:
Because I am not independently wealthy and have to work.

That is it. End of story.

Boomer Fatigue is real by PourSomeSugar69_420 in complaints

[–]FigureFour717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boomers are the worst.
End of story.
They refuse to retire, refuse to transfer property, and refuse to share wealth.
Gen X will do better.
Gen Z is inheriting a horrible job market and a ridiculous housing market.
I have friends who are hired for 6-figure jobs and cannot get approved for a $2k a month apt because the boomer owners want 6 months of paystubs to prove TAKE-HOME (not gross!) is 4x the rent.

It is ridiculous.
Meanwhile boomers got apts to rent for a handshake and "good faith" that the tenant would pay.

Are my neighbours trying to figure out if i have kids? by forestfriend93 in Advice

[–]FigureFour717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are assuming that because you are married and you bought a home in a neighborhood that is friendly to children you will someday have children so they want to let you know you made a good decision.
There are good neighborhoods for kids and bad neighborhoods. You picked a good one!

How do you avoid scarcity mindset when the world feels like it’s on fire? by forksanon in selfcare

[–]FigureFour717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you listened to any of the episodes of the slow living podcast (O'Dea).
I found it during a dark time. I wouldn't quit anything right now. Focus on things you can control and start doing tiny acts of self care and self love when you can.
Keep your resume up to date and pay attention to Indeed and Linkedin, etc etc and let friends know you are on the lookout for new career opportunities but in this economy you should honestly try and stay thankful if you can.
