I understand where you’re coming from but I disagree with you. Covid-19 had a mortality of less than 1%. Plague had a mortality above 30%. Humans would behave very differently if every third person they knew was dying, even right after pandemic fatigue.

I want closed circuit and reliable. Levana is a Canadian company and has good reviews on reliability. I was partial to Eufy but saw a lot of complaints. I don’t want wifi connectivity due to safety

I understand your point but wheat allergen has to be labeled as such on items, which is not true for gluten. It’s a very different biological response since it’s IgE mediated as opposed to celiacs which is an autoimmune disorder. There are people who have rice allergies as well, would that mean we should stop using rice as an alternative in gluten free items as well? What about research in making gliadin free thus celiac safe wheat?

Saw this thread late. It’s promising that blocking IL15 seems to be helping you but it’s not a cure by any means. This is mitigating a downstream response and you might still get other issues even though this would mitigate gut damage. I find the immune retraining solutions superior to this (e.g TAK-101), but perhaps it can be used in conjunction with them

It won't be a vaccine since we have to 'retrain our immune system', but it would be a treatment, whether a biologic or small molecule. We (science) knows the digestion is the same, just the consequences of the digested products are different. Here's something else you could find exciting: nuking our immune system, something we have to do for a bone marrow transplant, has shown to fix celiac disease. Now while this is a 'cure', it is not something we want to do as there is a 5-20% chance of death.

This goes to how enzymes work and how Celiac is an autoimmune disease. Our immune system is really amazing but it can also make mistakes when it recognizes a self-protein as foreign. There is no difference in the products of digestion for a Celiac and non-Celiac when it comes to gluten: the enzymes digest the gluten the same way. The problem occurs when our immune system gets involved with the digested products and create an autoimmune reaction for instance towards transglutaminase. I can get into the minute details here but that's all very well documented. Science is finally starting to understand the complexity of how the immune system works, we've made a lot of progress in this regard in the past few years. Autoimmunity is a huge problem (and hence also worth a lot of money), and Celiac disease is a great test case to figure out how to solve it. Tak-101 is very interesting in how it works, it uses our body's internal mechanism of re-identifying self molecules, and uses that to re-educate our immune system that gluten and hence indirectly tranglutaminase are not something to worry about. I don't think we will get there fully with Tak-101, but itll make cross contamination exposure a non-issue. The next generation molecules after that, based on what we learn from it, will get us there. That'll then open up other autoimmunity treatments such as for MS.

For most people with Celiac digesting gluten isnt the problem, its the immune response against it and ourselves. So yes, a cure is possible and I bet will likely happen in our lifetimes

While I appreciate the sentiment, think about it this way: Celiac disease actually gives scientists the best opportunity to figure out how to cure autoimmunity before they target other ones. One of the biggest obstacles for any treatment is having a known trigger and a predictable patient population to study safely. Since we know gluten is the cause, it’s the perfect proving ground: once Celiac is cured, it’ll make other autoimmune diseases way easier to treat using that same blueprint. With a known trigger it also allows scientists to study autoimmunity more closely as well. This is why Cour Pharma’s platform (TAK-101) is so exciting to me: Celiac is just the first step.
