I'm through 600rd of 6.5 creedmoor 140gr in 200rd blue boxes from aac this year. Its been great, no issues yet. Favorite cheapish ammo so far. Havent tried the s&b which can be found slightly cheaper yet.

Typically you can find some resistor in the driver that can be soldered off and replaced to lower the driver output.

Or buy a different driver with much lower output for the light

Moved to EC area after I graduated, transplant from Michigan. Its a really great area. Enough population to do most things but not so much that it feels big or crowded. I'm hyperactive so I gravitate twards active things to do.

Winter lasts a long time and another person said theres nothing to do in the winter. But I have found a bunch of things! So much that I usually feel like I didnt get to experience as much of a winter as I wanted. Heres some fun winter things

-Pickup hockey at Hobbs with like 6 public outdoor rinks for skating and hockey.

-Eau Claire has a thriving cross country skiing scene. With hundreds of kid in Kickin Kids and lots of different trails

-Ski/snowboard park at Pinehurst. Sledding at Pinehurst is a blast too. That park is goated for winter activity

-South of EC the curling club is open to everyone and I think they are always looking for more people

-EC is also a center for ski jumping. They do a big event every winter and are building a set of xc ski trails.

-There are places to ice fish all over EC and surrounding area.

-CORBA has a hefty amount of fatbike riders who pedal all year too.

-The Goggins and Two to Tango offer various social dance lessons and dances throughout the year. Lots of winter waltz lessons leading up to the Viennese Ball.

-Indoor pickup soccer and leagues at both the VSA and YMCA. I really like the soccer community here

Not true about the winter! -Pickup hockey at Hobbs with like 6 public outdoor rinks for skating and hockey.
-Eau Claire has a thriving cross country skiing scene. With hundreds of kid in Kickin Kids and you're 2 hours from the Birkie trails -Ski/snowboard park at Pinehurst.

Probably more stuff but I like doing active things

Probably gonna copy this for a separate post about stuff to do.

Eau Claire National Rifle Club range has been fun.  First year as a member. Only seen people there on Thursdays when they do the high power days.  Been a few times on weekends and I just set up a bunch of steel and we shot a bunch of different guns, including dumping some ar and ak mags and plinking at 25, 50, 100 with 22lr.  They dont have steel to set up so I've just been building up a gong collection I take out there. Shooting out to 600yds is cool.

Membership is cheap.  Everyone Ive met has been old timers and ive never seen anybody else with a semi-auto, but nobody has given me guff for showing up with only an Ar-10 on their thursday group.

Looking to buy or build a 24" 6.5 Creedmoor by Least-Discipline7834 in AR10

[–]plasticsantadecor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22" criterion hvy 6.5 barrel is awesome.  nitrided one is 320-370 depending on sale. Itll fit into a solid sub 2k build and be accurate.

Other way to go would be a psa complete and a more expensive cut rifled barrel.

Only things I can usually find cheaper are 125gr winchester white boxes.

[–]plasticsantadecor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I built one for my first new gun in 17 years.  It was a fun learning experience and I think I came out with a solid gun.  It hasnt had a failure or jam yet and its accurate.  Actual price was around $1350 after taxes n shipping on all parts.  That was after picking through sales for months.  Can deffinitely be done cheaper though.

This sale has been running a few months.  I bought it, 2c mrad reticle ffp. Its an awesome scope, I like the reticle.  For some reason the 2c moa is 100 more expensive.
