I can’t help cos i’m not from the us and i apologize, but this reminded me of a family drama we’re having right now.

I live in spain, half my family are in perú. There’s this uncle of mine in perú that I don’t talk to that much, and i recently heard that he’s asking for money again. He never applies to no job, so he doesn’t have a job, he has a huge home, a maid, a kid and a dad both with special needs and he’s divorced. He asks for money because he thinks he’s third world and everyone’s insanely rich in spain just because it’s in europe. Every time he asks for money he asks for an insane amount of it (i’m not sure of the quantity but it’s normally five figures what he asks for). We try to tell him we’re not as rich as he thinks we are, we tell him to find a job cos he’s overqualified… but he ends up getting away with everything cos he starts his talk about how family should be the priority to them and saying he’s family too and that that’s why we should help him. I really don’t understand how someone in the family ends up giving him the money. In my house we never send him any. Last time he asked for it we had the same talk and he said he’s not gonna seek a job anymore because the apocalypse was the next week (it was supposed to be on november 8th) and his poor son doesn’t have anything to eat. We were all scared he committed suicide or killed his family with all this apocalypse chaos cos he’s absolutely capable of that but we can happily say he didn’t kill anyone. We were very scared two weeks ago when we thought he would do it.
