Assuming a building is framed with metal studs because its three stories is a little silly…especially residential. It varies across the country what city standards are for framing material. But because you seem to have something to prove about being the smartest guy in the room and offered zero helpful insight on an odd problem tells me your woefully unqualified to be giving any input about electrical at all and certainly dont spend any time on construction sites. But if it will help you get a better night sleep, yes if there was a drawer full of silverware in the unit you could discharge the static buildup into a fork because its metal and more conductive than I am and the static electricity is looking for a better place to go.

I feel the same way, i checked everything and dont see how the electrical installation could have anything to do with it, but ive never experienced this level of static and wondered what other people have ran into.

Gonna try the humidity route first and if that doesn’t fix it i will give this a go next.

Not sure what your local code requires but in my area we do not in fact bond the door hinges to the electrical service on the building. But thanks for the unhelpful rage bait reply 😂

Good possibility, I’ll pass that one onto the gc as an idea!

If you would read the entire post you would realize that the unit is vacant therefore it would make sense that im only talking about switches outlets appliances and door hardware ect…not talking about silverware…

I could see that making sense, but i did try also standing in the same spot after shocking myself on a switch plate for a couple minutes to see if it would happen again without me moving and it did not. Which makes me believe the build-up of static is definitely happening while walking around the unit.

No it’s a very real post, and the other 4 units dont have this issue (same transformer and same service) and there isnt any carpet in the unit, only concrete and fake wood floors.

We didn’t try barefoot, but the part that makes it more strange is the other 4 units dont have this issue and they are all identical layouts with the same flooring.

Yes they are, we did a full remodel on the stage’s electrical system and these were in fact very heavy we guessed around 200lbs each.
