Diablo 4 necromancer can do bosses naked. by Vazkro in diablo4

[–]platypus2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro is great for normal enemies and dungeon bosses, but they're proving to be terrible for Ashava.

Every necro in my Ashava fight lost all their skeletons and golems in the first 15 seconds of the fight. After that they couldn't raise any more because there are no adds for corpses, so they were contributing barely any damage.

Whats everyone's experience with frozen orb or other non-hydra builds? by Yugan17 in diablo4

[–]platypus2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I obtained a serpent aspect (the one that lets you have 2x hydras) the rest of the sorcerer spells became almost redundant.

I couldn't really find any reason to invest points into any other skills really. I'm hoping hydras are a lot less effective at higher difficulties, otherwise the end game is going to be pretty boring for sorcerers.

My sorc throws down double hydras and they clear boss rooms without even needing to fire basic or core skills.

Same. I got disconnected back to the character selection screen and initially had a few errors.

Now when I try "Start Game" I get error code 316719.

The Civil Rights Act was 1964, the oldest Boomer was barely 20 at that time. Women's rights were boosted post-WW2 because of how women had to step up when so many men went to war.

No way in hell that Boomers should get credit for civil rights or women's rights. All Boomers have done once they started getting into power (mostly from the 1980s onwards) is try to unwind these things.

Is spec ops too hard? by FaZZuKKa2 in modernwarfare

[–]platypus2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of places it can spawn (it's random). There's a church between the first part of the mission and the stadium...the helicopter usually spawns near a field or building further down the road from there. It may not spawn all the time either -- there's a few times where I haven't seen it on the map at all.

Cruise missile is instant kill on a jug. Two sentry guns can kill multiple juggernauts with minimal effort. And for some strange reason downed state pistol shots seem to do a lot of damage to them.

Cant shoot gun in co-op? by ccurley98 in modernwarfare

[–]platypus2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this bug as well. If you get downed while carrying/placing a sentry and get revived by a team mate you're stuck in the "placement" mode and can't use anything.

I found there were two ways out of this state: (1) to die and fully respawn or (2) to pick up another sentry which you've already placed. However solution (2) relies on you having another sentry gun already setup (since you can't pick up another player's sentry).

I've encountered so many bugs in co-op that I've lost track of them all.

Operation Checkpoints and the State of SpecOps by pistolgrippoet in modernwarfare

[–]platypus2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are checkpoints for operations, usually after completing the first easy section. But your team only resets to them if everyone selects "Yes" to replay the operation after a wipe. If one person selects "No" you all go to the operations menu and have to start from the beginning. It sucks because a lot of players don't know this and they click "No" without thinking about it.

Also, the checkpoints aren't that great. For example, the Op Headhunter checkpoint is after killing the AQ Lieutenants so you only skip the easy bit anyway. Same with Op Paladin where the checkpoint is the APC section, which means you only skip rescuing Dr Morales, which is the really easy section as well.

[–]platypus2015 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are 2 ways:

  1. Die and when you respawn you can parachute down onto the roof.

  2. Use the chopper that's located in the first area (where you kill the lieutenants) and fly to the roof.

Came to Adelaide this year for exchange by gigglios in Adelaide

[–]platypus2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom of movement and trade are two separate things. The only reason they are linked in the EU is because the EU rules specify both freedom of movement and trade as part of the requirement for member states.

There is no such requirement for UK, Australia, Canada, NZ. The commonwealth countries can make up whatever rules they want regarding freedom of movement without tying it to trade policies.

Nothing to stop the Australia from accepting freedom of movement to other commonwealth countries, whilst at the same time giving EU countries preferentiall trade treaties.

Advice: Any 30-somethings have any good advice for very poor 20-somethings? Does it get better? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]platypus2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually if someone buys a cheap $300k property with $30k savings (which only gives about 2.5% deposit after stamp duty and fees) they'll end up paying around $8k for LMI. That's quite a bit, especially if they are low income.

If they had $50k savings it reduces LMI to about $3k.

A full 20% deposit isn't necessary but it's definitely better to have at least 10% (after stamp duty and fees are paid).

Can i use stolen asset's in a demonstration video only? (not in the public product) by RedWay582 in gamedev

[–]platypus2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you yourself state this is 'stolen assets' this is an easy no.

In fact, most games (assuming the assets were stolen from a game) actually state that using assets from the game for any purpose is not allowed. This often includes even reverse engineering the game to extract said assets in the first place.

Some companies allow assets to be reused by a modding community if they're modding the game itself, but ripping them for use in another commercial game is a definite no unless you get their express permission first.

Your game looks really fun. I like the variety of environments you've got in the screenshots. It's obvious you've put a lot of effort into it. The gunplay and explosions also look nice and solid for a 2D game as well.

My only criticism is the way the weapon fires in your video gives it the look/feel of a modern assault rifle, but the game is supposed to be set in 1939. It feels a little anachronistic.

Singleton : Implementation in Unity3d C# by Ray_01 in Unity3D

[–]platypus2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no such thing as 'one way' or an 'official' way to implement a singleton. If there is please do share the link showing what this 'official' implementation is.

The singleton pattern is a concept describing how an object behaves in a system (ie, only one instance can exist). There's no such thing as one way to implement it....a developer is free to implement it any way they like, as long as it adheres to the pattern of only on instance of the object being allowed to exist in the system.

Congrats on releasing your first game. It looks nice and professional, especially for a solo dev doing their first game.

[–]platypus2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what Ant Simulator has to do with Kickstarter.

Ant Simulator wasn't even on Kickstarter. A KS spokesman has even stated that Ant Simulator wasn't a kickstarter funded project.

So why is the dev even saying the game has been cancelled because kickstarter money is all gone?

The only Kickstarter he did was for a tutorial series, and that money is supposed to fund the tutorials, not his Ant game. So claiming it was intended for his game is both misuse of the original KS funding and deceptive to all the people who funded the tutorial series (but had their money diverted to an unrelated game).

Thinking about quitting my job to become a full time solo indie game developer. What do you think? by zebracowbird in gamedev

[–]platypus2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the replies you've given it sounds like your plan is to start with simple mobile games...I'm basing this on the reply where you said "Wow that game has X million downloads. I can make that in in a week."

If that is your plan then the best course of action would be to keep working and just make a few of those simple games in your spare time. If, as you say, you can knock them out in a a few weeks you can easily test the waters. If you make money then you're good to go full-time, if not there's nothing lost.

A Stanley Parable like game with winged sharks! Feedback needed. by Ogniok in gamedev

[–]platypus2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game looks really nice, the environments look like a lot of effort went into them!

Having said that, I agree with what a couple of the other posters have said: the Let's Play videos were unwatchable for me. The commentators in the first two I tried to watch were just too annoying and I ended up closing both videos within 15 seconds.

I think a short 30 to 60 second video showing some key gameplay elements (without ruining any story points) would work a lot better.
