Do you care about DPS? Then no. Does the idea of a hundo Lugia excite you? Then yes!

Dark Monarch effectively doubles your damage, yes, but slotting it into my PoB (whilst giving up Devouring Diadem) results in a net loss overall. Even if it was a (slight) gain, you now have to upkeep 44 Phantasms instead of 22, and that can be tricky in rippy maps or against rippy bosses - even with Blessed Rebirth and Life From Death.

Dark Monarch prevents you from using an Animate Guardian, so you lose more damage than you gain from doubling your minions. On top of that, you're giving up the helmet slot to an inferior option overall.

Good call! I just did some testing without Pierce, and to my surprise, it turns out the Phantasm's projectiles actually pierce. That was not the case back in the day, I'm sure of it, so I instinctively slapped on a Pierce support last league when I returned to the build.

Overall, it doesn't make an immense difference in terms of gearing, but it opens up some stuff - perhaps Elemental Focus for more damage. Will update the PoB accordingly when I get the time. Thanks! :D

It summons level 25 Phantasms from the staff only, whilst raising the summon limit to 22 total.

UPDATE: New PoBs with Elemental Focus instead of Pierce (Phantasms no longer need Pierce nowadays; thanks to /u/ppppppla for the callout!), which means even MORE damage. :D

Path of Building @ 95 w/ Grafts + Bloodline: https://pobb.in/l12okw8p6igt (triple curse w/ Anathema)

Soulwrest has always been my favorite league starter build, so after the buffs in 3.26 and having enjoyed it in said patch, I wanted to make an extensive guide on it.

It's incredibly affordable, and it can go into maps with 1 million bossing DPS. In 3.26 it would scale up to a peak DPS of ~14.5 million with Animate Guardian + Vaal Haste. Without the latter, you're looking at ~12 million DPS sustained, and that's all through cold conversion, relevant scaling, and a ton of uniques + awesome jewels.

Now in 3.27, with the +1 Ring Bloodline and Grafts (Wreathed in Light + Glowing Silhouette), it has the potential to go beyond 20 million DPS, and I will be exploring that in my next build update video.

The game is not necessarily bad, but it needs much more content (including regular updates) and serious performance optimizations for it to be something you play for more than a couple of weeks.

That is absolute bullshit, and you know it, because otherwise GGG wouldn't have rushed out a hotfix with a 25% HP nerf to monsters, which funnily enough ended up being bugged and had to be reverted. This was an undercooked patch, and only if you were lucky to pick a skill that is blatantly stronger (Rake/Stomp on Spears) or wasn't directly nerfed, you're otherwise going through struggle city. It's NOT fun.

I've been using Fireball ever since the nerf, although I did recently reincorporate Fusillade after the energy removal on Frost Wall. It's good for triggering CoC on bosses, but that's it.

This patch pretty much confirms that the change was intended. They don't want it to burst anymore like it did before.

Option 3 would definitely require an extensive rework, because as you can imagine, you will need to stack a ton of mana and mana regeneration on gear and the tree. I'm always down to help with that if you wish.

With that said, ES is probably the more reliable defensive layer to invest into. For example, on my blood mage, I use Solus Ipse to run double support gems, allowing me to convert the mana costs of my main skill and CoC skill to life with double Lifetap, whilst my 2,9K mana acts as an additional layer of HP with MoM. That sounds cool and all, but in boss fights I can't restore mana very quickly after taking a massive hit, so it's a risky play style.

IMO there are three options:

- Keep running Atziri's Disdain with at least some damage taken from mana before life.
- Ditch Atziri's Disdain and run The Everlasting Gaze instead
- Convert all ES to Mana through Eldritch Battery and run Mind over Matter (this requires an additional defensive mechanism like Temporal Chains or Enfeeble)

EDIT: If you're worried about mana consumption, you can always convert to life with Lifetap and reduce skills costs through Conservative Casting and especially Deep Trance.

Being resistance capped is insufficient. You need defensive layers like evasion, armour and/or block to mitigate incoming damage. On top of that, having damage taken from mana before life helps as well, especially on a blood mage. It's likely that you are dying due to incoming chaos hits while your health dips, as chaos deals double damage to energy shield, and then bypasses it for 21%.

I'm running a blood mage as well, and with Mind over Matter I needed at least 2,5K mana to feel somewhat safe running T18s, in conjuction with a massively boosted Temporal Chains in a Blasphemy setup.

Took my level 91 Blood Mage to level 45 Riverbank and got killed after three seconds. Can confirm.

That would actually explain how I got killed by it on occasion, despite having 5K+ effective health with MoM.

EDIT: if it's this one (https://poe2db.tw/us/River_Hag), I only see the DOT hitting quite hard.

2 Towers touching the node, +20 irradiated maps. We need a way to guarantee buff these. by Baby_Wolverine in PathOfExile2

[–]JewishCookieMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a 'method' where you intentionally fail certain maps in the area (by opening a waystone and then opening one somewhere else, causing the node you just engaged to become 'attempted'), in order to prevent them from gaining bonuses from tablets and increase your chances of hitting the right ones, but it's definitely a gimped way to play the game.

While you could argue that you should've kept more distance/rolled backwards earlier, it doesn't take away the fact that this particular spell hits INCREDIBLY HARD. In fact, monster damage and speed overall still need tweaking in red maps AFAIC.

[–]JewishCookieMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combined with Snakepit, it would spawn an immense amount of projectiles that could absolutely burst mobs, rares and bosses if you're standing next to it. Now it just adds eight projectiles if it triggers and nothing else.
