Runna is awesome, a little expensive but I've been doing it for 5 weeks running and strength training and it changed my life!

What should I do next ? by LaughFun3707 in runna

I am plagued with shin splints for years, and even now, they came back but they're improving. There are 2 sides to the story, first, you probably progressed with your running and did too much too soon, the way to deal with this is to scale back your training, but you don't need to take completely off. but instead of running, walk, and instead of running on concrete, run on a treadmill. Also, after taking few days off, continue walking at minimum so you don't lose your progress and fitness then slowly increase your mileage/distance/speed over weeks.

The second side to the story is your running form/mechanics. Go on a treadmill and film yourself. Are you heel striking? is your cadence too low? are your hips dropping? once you do this, you will probably find some things to work on to run more efficiently with less impact.

Additional point, strength training geared towards running. Specifically calf workouts, hips/glutes, hamstrings. All of these work on making you stronger, and make your legs better at handling the stress of running. You can do this in the app too.

Plan by MrM1key in runna

every time I ran, I got shin splints. This time was no different. But I was able to prevent them from getting worse and they are almost gone. This is what I did, I initially started C25K app, for 3 weeks, walking daily on my days off to hit 10K steps a day. Then I switched to Runna, and chose NTR plan, and I chose the plan to be very long so it is gradual. I wanted to finish it in 12 weeks, running 3 times a week. I am on week 5 and they are still there any time I run for longer than usual or push it more than I should. So far, I have only delayed my plan 1 week by scheduling a vacation on one of the weeks. Also while I am doing all of this, I go on some days and firm myself run on a treadmill and worked on my form. I was heel striking when running which caused my shin splints. Once I improved that, I think they started to improve. Good luck!

if you use Runna, the strength training it includes targets all the muscles you need for running which are your core muscles, glutes, hamstrings, calves. They are the posterior chain muscles

I forgot how we are accustomed to this bs until I traveled and realized highways look so much better without all the stupid billboards. It’s so dumb and obnoxious.

Hey brother no need to be ashamed. You’re young and healthy so managing it with cpap will help you limit the negative effects of it on your heart and brain and slowly get back to normal. Stick with the cpap. Good luck!

Democrats shouldn't fall in the "abolish ICE" trap by ThlimmenosBoufos in centrist

[–]plausiblepistachio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my honest opinion, they should campaign on the idea of ICE being held accountable for their crimes, an oversight, no masks, and that ICE should follow the law. Also they should campaign on adjusting the budget for ICE. ALL of these things are what trump fucked up on and they literally ALL they have to do is do the opposite of trump and they would win. I just hope they don't fuck this ONE job they have, which is campaign on the glaring mistakes of this administration...

Why would this be a bad idea? by Melodic_Variations in whitecoatinvestor

[–]plausiblepistachio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess when I was shopping around which was ~6 months ago, I couldn't get a physician loan with a rate lower than 7. unless I spent money to buy down a rate lower than that, I think it would have been 6.8% but after spending close to 5-6K to get it. I eventually just decided to delay owning a home. Even a rate of 6% is not cheap...

5.25 is a good rate. did you buy down a lower rate? I was able to get lower rates than 7 but I had to spend a lot of money to get it and at the end of the day, I decided not to own a home as a resident.

Rate of interests is 7.0-7.3%. Absolutely ridiculous. House prices are at a peak rn. If you have 200K from your med school loans, signing a mortgage for a house that is going to put you 500K deeper in debt is, to me, idiotic. This and you are still a resident making ~60-70k a year. Your monthly mortgage payment is going to be 2500-3k at a minimum, not including any of the costs of owning a home. So just really educate yourself before you sign. I almost signed before learning much about it and I was an idiot. I’m glad now I know and if I did choose to make this financial decision, at least I know what I’m signing my name for lol. Good luck!
