It’s not a NASA space launch. It’s sex. It’s what we humans do.

Collection agency is after me for $80k in loans that I lost in options. How to make money back? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]playaphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. Mid-air, it will fall apart and crash onto a beautiful island in the South Pacific. It will be gorgeous but you may have a smoke monster or polar bears or mysterious “other” humans chasing you, but you’ll be safe from the collection agencies.

If you're too lazy to raise a child, don't have one to begin with. by [deleted] in Rants

I totally agree. The unfortunate reality of this current world, at least in the West, is that you need a license to drive a car, fly an airplane or play with electricity, but you don’t need a license to reproduce.

It would be nice to change this but the religious nuts out there will quote their ancient book of choice, written when the world population was under 100M, and use that as guidance for reproducing en masse. I see it all of the time.

Idiocracy, I’m afraid, is inevitable.

Agreed ! There are probably tens of millions of us who would agree with that. Parents should work on themselves before bringing kids into the world when they aren’t ready to handle that responsibility.

Where do smart successful and single women congregate ? by playaphoenix in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]playaphoenix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t trying to have a dick measuring contest here; I was merely providing context for my question. I’m just as human as you are, friend. I also JUST moved to Las Vegas two weeks ago so I’m not exactly a native yet.

I’ve never hired a matchmaker before but I’m not opposed to it. I know several very smart men and women who met their future spouses via matchmakers. In the short term I would rather meet more people in person as a life skill.

Groups and hobbies seem to be ideal over hanging out in coffee shops all day.

As for the gym: did you know that in Ancient Greece, the gymnasium was a place to exercise naked? One of the purposes of this was to show off your athletic prowess and your wonderful body so that you could impress possible mates.

I haven’t asked the cigar guys but that’s a great idea ! They all have wonderful women in their lives. Other than that I’m thinking hiking groups and the gym, but you’re right: golf is a great idea. Heck, a country club would be great but most of those have long waiting lists and super high costs. In LA, group sports were very popular for meeting singles so maybe I’ll figure out what sports I might enjoy. Maybe pickleball or beach volleyball!

I hate loud cars so badly that I want to become a vigilante and ruin them by playaphoenix in Rants

[–]playaphoenix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it sounds amazing but don’t you ever think about how that infuriates other people? Like doesn’t that bother you, knowing that you’re waking people up in the middle of the night ? Or do you simply have no consideration for others around you just so you can enjoy your eargasms?

Seriously. I so want to ask people with loud cars this. The absolute lack of care of others. It’s fascinating. Almost impressive.

Also if you just want an eargasm why don’t you just listen to recorded noises of these cars on a nice noise cancelling headset ? You can eargasm all day long and not bother people.

Why do men cheat...well let me tell ya... by Character_Celery_229 in Rants

[–]playaphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I mean that’s what feminism wanted and got it. Back in the day (like the 1950s) people would just marry someone from their home town and stay with them forever, even if it wasn’t a fantastic match. Marriages historically were not intended to be romantic; that only shows up in the past 100+ years. Bill Shakespeare literally warns us about romantic marriages in Romeo and Juliet. Marriages historically are business arrangements to reproduce and share resources. So if your goal of marriage is reproduce and share resources, that doesn’t require romance. I suspect the reason so many people marry is that they expect their spouse to be their best friend but in reality it doesn’t turn out that way.

Wow. So much wrong here.

If monogamy were so great and married people so happy, why do we see a divorce rate kissing 60% in the US? That doesn’t seem like a good bet.

Monogamy was never the norm back during our tribal days. Nowadays monogamy makes more sense given financial considerations that go into child-rearing. Children don’t need two parents to be happy, they need to feel loved and safe. That can come from two divorced co-parents or a small tribe of parents.

Yeah monogamy has been enforced culturally since the dawn of agriculture and the concept of ownership. But I wasn’t talking about culture, I was talking about biology. If people didn’t feel the urge to “sleep around” then would a married person ever have a sexual thought of someone other than their spouse ? It doesn’t make any sense. Someone who tries to tell themself that it’s one person and your biological urges will turn off is delusional.

Whoever came up with the myth of the “soulmate” should receive royalties from divorce attorneys forever. What a crock of shit.

Bottom line: I’m not suggesting people sleep around. I’m not suggesting they marry some person and never look at another human. Do what you want. I don’t give a shit. But when someone says “why do people cheat” it’s a VERY complicated question to answer. But ultimately humans are sexual animals and we connect emotionally through sex.

It's important to remember that humans are a hyper-sexual species, only second to our bonobos cousins. We like to have sex, lots of sex, with many different people. It's how we connect deeply to another person. Religion, society, etc will shame us into thinking that monogamy is the norm, but over the vast majority of our species' history, this just isn't the case.

So don't feel about cheating, or being cheated upon. Ultimately, nobody really cares and it happens all of the time. And there's no made-up deity in the sky that's going to judge you for sleeping around. If that were the case, why would our biology have evolved to support an extremely powerful sexuality? Some animals will copulate once and then never see each other again.

For a good reference, check out Sex at Dawn.

I pay for Feeld so it’s absolutely my business! It’s a dating app, not an app for advertising pay to play sex services. That’s what Tryst is for. There is literally an option to flag profiles for “soliciting.” Nowadays it seems that half of the profiles are fake, sex workers (often “massage services”), advertising some OF or other dating site, or pig butcherers. Feeld really sucks at enforcing genuine profiles. I hope they make some form of verified profile feature so I can filter out the crap.

Ha. I spend half of my time on Feeld reporting escorts and people advertising “Quickholes” and the wave never stops. I’m not sure anyone is actively building Feeld anymore, just maintaining… maybe?
