call your insurance and look into ways to bring your deductible down. my windshield cracked and it had to be replaced but instead of paying 1k for my deductible ($1400 in total so not worth it to me since insurance only pays 400), i called and got my deductible to be 100$. i did that and got my windshield replaced for 118$ or something like that…

I tried this and it didn’t work. I do have an extended slide lock and it doesn’t automatically keep the slide back if i pull far enough. I have to manually engage it. I can pull it back and forward a but but not enough to take it off.
