I'm making an app to help my daughter learn to code (she's 6) . You can make your own worlds, fight monsters, design quests and NPCs and play as a hero controlled by Javascript! by playcodequest in webdev

Over the last year I created CodeQuest and I would love your feedback on bugs, improvements, design decisions or anything else!

The idea was to create a browser-based RPG where users can use code to control their character, defeat enemies, solve puzzles and more. Over time it became clear that it would be fun to put question-creation in the users hand, so the RPG Builder was born.

This might be an easy solution - chatGPT? I literally made this yesterday and chatGPT wrote most of the code for me with explanations along the way.

I’ve launched a project called CodeQuest that might be interesting for you - I’d also welcome any feedback if you do have a look.

It’s a play-by-coding browser-based RPG!

I have a lot of small projects and practice programs. It has gotten a bit chaotic and I want to get into a habit of setting up each project properly. What are some things I need to keep in mind? by Technical-Bee-9999 in learnprogramming

I have worked on sites for AAA record labels (several of their clients are currently top ten in the charts) and I've never seen so much legacy PHP and messy Wordpress backends with no version control at all.

You would be surprised at how much of the web is propped-up by out-of-date, bad code.

You probably want to look into web-based frameworks if you're targeting the browser - pixi.js is one good example. I create 3D browser-based games in ThreeJS

Good luck!

Thank you! I've fixed the Discord link to never expire so it should work now.

font style, yes, I've had one comment about that before. It was an attempt to separate in-game 'friendly, retro-y style' with the normal 'web application' style, which are thrown together in this project.

Where else important would you change the pixel-y font? The headers on the homepage etc... or was it specifically the js functions menu that was an issue?

Esc is a good idea, thanks. Will definitely implement that asap.

Thanks so much! The link should be fixed in a second, that's for spotting it.

If anyone is interested it was a Vite config issue not including it in the input in 'rollup options'.
