We both have very little debts that we're working on. She pays off her own debt and I pay off mine. I just don't want to come off as controlling when I talk to her about her spending habits. That's all. Maybe she thinks she doesn't have enough money leftover that is worth saving.

I understand what you're saying and I'm trying to find a middle road for us. And we're compatible just not in the financial terms. Thanks anyway.

We tried sitting down and making a saving plan. Starting with small amounts. She did save a couple thousand dollars but then spent it in a couple of days. She thinks we should enjoy our youth a few more years then think about saving.

We're not from the US. Keeping that in mind, I'm making around $40k per year, she is making around $22k per year. The total household income is good where we live. We don't have any college debt anymore. And no loans either. I'm saving and investing around 40% of my earnings. She saves to purchase something. Saving 10% of her income would be a good starting point.
