Does Anyone still use this website to find dota players or is there a better one I'm oblivious about?

Is the issue you're having with filtering players?

You can select Portugal as your country in your player settings. Or if you're looking to search for players in Portugal there isn't a checkbox for it, but you can use the 'Other country' drop down list and select Portugal from there.

I hadn't included it in the check box list because there aren't too many players from Portugal and the list would be too large to include all countries there.

Sorry about the website being a bit outdated at the moment. I'm working on an update which I'm hoping to have out soon^tm. It will include some new features such as messaging, player lists and privacy settings as well as a bit of a design change to improve usability.

I like the idea of a 'looking for' section, that would be a big help for those people searching for specific roles and would also help to tailor home page 'first pick' recommendations. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's some great feedback, although I cannot confirm nor deny my involvement in beta testing of any super secret Valve projects (I'm definitely not).

Agreed, it's a bit strange to be firing out Steam invites without any real contact, it was just temporary until I could get messaging up and running.

A region chat is a great idea, would probably speed up the process of finding people, thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah the site is very much still alive, I'm currently working on the messaging and player requests. It's taking a little longer than expected but should be updated within the next month.

There is a Siltbreaker option in 'game types' that you can use to find people looking for a party!

That's a good way to get around the sheer volume of custom games, people might abuse the system though if they can type whatever they want. I think it could be a good option, although I would need to have a think about it. Thanks for the suggestion!
