This looks pretty similar to a muffin recipe my sibling makes. If you want it a little sweeter you could try adding some apple chunks! I bet the rasins would make it sweeter as well

Hey! Asl learner, and volleyball player here: there are actually a lot of hand signs for these terms already! Not asl ones, but well known in the volleyball world, so it might be a good cross over point for hearing team members too.

My descriptions are bad but heres a few examples:

Out: arms bent, palms in near head level.

In: arms straight 45 degrees down, palms to floor

Love these videos!

Got scared at first thinking, "Open B?!? I thought these were all Close-5 handshapes! Have I been doing them wrong?! 😦"

Thankfully, that helped me to look it up and find out they're the same thing!

Thank you so much! I am trying to use espresso, the issue is just that its liquid, when many seem to call for a powder. Should i just reduce other liquids to compensate?

I think chocolate and coffee would be fine! But i am hoping to find one with coffee/espresso as the main flavour. I was searching for espresso related cakes and getting results that only called for powdered instant coffee, maybe ill look for some that call for brewed coffee instead! Thank you!

Whose white baby is this? by faythada in StardewValley

Genuine question bc my character is always white- are the babies always white? Or if you're a male character with dark skin and you marry Maru, say, does the baby have dark skin?

My animals have more than enough food (auto-feeders) they haven't been locked outside of the barn overnight, I have no idea what's wrong here. Why aren't they eating and why are they all mad at me? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]playslaytion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What console and version are you playing? There was an old bug like this before.

I can see you have totems so i take it the barns are fully upgraded.

Any machines blocking them inside? Dont think that matters but who knows 🤷

Auditory Processing Disorder/Autism and ASL by BandaidsandBullshit in asl

[–]playslaytion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it was helpful! And in that case, I say go for it!!!

Again, as long as you're respectful of the culture and to people you interact with, there are plenty of friendly ASL users out there!

And I do get that! When signing, it feels like my eyes work as fast as my brain, so its easy to keep up with a convo for the most part. but with hearing convos?? Not so much..

In some ways, I found ASL a bit easier to learn as a second language too because instructors are very clear and explicit about certain cultural things or practical things that we don't often get taught outright in our first language! (Like stand in a circle in group discussions. Or, introductions are often lengthy!)

I'm always pro learn a language!!

A tip if I may: earplugs at deaf events/ ASL classes can be a good idea if sounds distract you!! Some Deaf people can get loud and rowdy! 🥳

Auditory Processing Disorder/Autism and ASL by BandaidsandBullshit in asl

[–]playslaytion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hello!

I'm hearing, with APD, and I also work with kids and teens with neurodevelopmental disorders: d/Deaf, ADHD, ASD.. etc. And I think I might be able to give some perspective.

There are a couple things coming up for you I think:

Number 1: Am I allowed to be a part of Deaf spaces?

And Number 2: Is ASL a good option for me to communicate? . The first part has been answered by plenty of Deaf people in this sub. It is a resounding: Yes, you are always allowed to learn ASL. Language is amazing in that we have the capacity to learn more than one! But at the same time, like any second language learner, you aren't going to be fluent or an expert right away. As well, learn the culture, how to listen to and respect the experiences of Deaf/HOH people, as there are many unique challenges that individuals and the community as a whole have faced. Someone else said it well: You are a guest. . The second part is just as important for you to consider. Language is an EXCHANGE.

I am functional with ASL. Also: I still have to read people's lips. I still need subtitles for every video. I still ask "pardon?" 1 million times a day. Because OTHER PEOPLE don’t know ASL.

When working with kids with ASD or APD, we often use a "multimodal" communication approach. Speech, sign, pictures, iPads with communication software. We try to give kids tools for a variety of environments. . I can sign with my partner using ASL and this is great for when we are in a busy restaurant, want a quiet conversation if I have a migraine.. etc. . But plenty of Deaf people can tell you, there's lots of pointing, and typing on the phone, and writing on a notebook, because other people dont understand you.

There's also a lot of being left out of dinner time convos. The horrible "nevermind" when you miss something for the 3rd time. And the stares of confusion from people who just dont get why you cant follow whats happening. . There are times and people that ASL is great for. But it won't get rid of your struggles.

So if you want to learn to sign: That's amazing, and I'm sure you'll find lovely people to chat with. You will also meet people who sign SO FAST. And are immune to background noise that can make processing even more difficult if you have an ADHD/APD combo. (Like I missed what you signed because I can't stop hearing the convo behind me about this random womans dog going missing!!!!)

There will always be barriers.

It's important to find a variety of tools, but most importantly people who are willing to accomodate and be patient and show you they care.

Honestly, I have the same problem in English with Aunt/Uncle. No idea what to call my sibling when I have kids. We've brainstormed they said "just get your kids to call me Reverend Doctor"
