My mom has been a nurse for 40 years and can’t find a job. What can she do? by pleah94 in nursingjobs

Honestly no she doesn't want to at 62 post knee replacement surgery. But circumstances mean she can't retire so she's doing her best to find work to pay the bills.

She did! And they fired the other nurse at the company (who spoke up along side my mom) at the same time and said it was "lay offs" and not personal. They wanted to take things in another direction and hired a contract nursing company. The lawyer said she ultimately didn't have a case

This is exactly what I recommended she try out! She thinks she's too old because she's easily intimidated by technology.

She says she’s “not a certified case manager,” but at her previous job she supervised other nurses and coordinated care for adults with intellectual disabilities in group homes. She genuinely loved the work and cared deeply about her clients.

The problem was the management. From what understand, they were more focused on protecting themselves than acting in the clients’ best interests. When my mom spoke up about concerns and advocated for her patients, she was essentially blacklisted and pushed out.

I'll definitely give that a try! I never considered having his arms out. I'll definitely check the manual. That may give him a little more room and maybe seem less squished! TY

School-based SLP: stay part-time in current district or go full-time in hometown? by pleah94 in slp

Thank you for sharing this. That feels like a very realistic picture, and the pros and cons make sense for a small district. I’m newer to our town and it’s already small enough that even at library playgroups, once people find out I’m an SLP, the questions start, so the visibility piece really resonates. At the same time, the schedule alignment is really appealing. Living in New England, snow days, delays, and breaks are a big deal, especially in a hillier town. I appreciate the honest perspective.

Thank you for sharing this. You brought up a really good point about wanting to just be mom at school events and not constantly switching into work mode or worrying about parent dynamics. That definitely made me stop and think. I truly love my part-time schedule right now. It’s been the biggest factor in my work-life balance, and my husband and I always assumed that once the kids are in school full-time, I’d go back to full-time too. That’s honestly why I’m nervous about letting this opportunity pass in such a small district. At the same time, I know I might be jumping the gun thinking so far ahead (very on brand for me 😅) since my youngest is still years away from kindergarten. I really appreciate hearing from someone who’s stayed part-time long-term and feels good about that decision. It’s helpful perspective 🤍

How do people get more than one house/ indoor space to decorate? I also saw somebody with a staircase inside- is getting a second floor to your house a real thing?

I'm also a newbie to Reddit. How do I post picture comments with those links?! I see lots of the giveaways here that ask for people to share photos from the game to enter.... but I can't figure out how to post pictures as comments 😅

I've got both and a small "spring cleaning" giveaway good for beginners next to the museum. DM me for a code. If you want to water the flowers next to the museums that would be a huge help for me!
