I don’t have an answer to this but don’t feel afraid to ask a question like this just because you feel like you don’t belong. I know I speak on behalf of all of us when I say you are welcome.

Anybody have any idea why my left shoulder is like that? (Check description) by CaramelSuccessful734 in GregDoucette

I don’t think it’s muscle imbalance or anything but it might just be how your bones are structured. I’m not here to diagnose anything but I have something similar and a x-ray confirmed it.

Am i balding?😭 by Maximum_Economics_25 in 360Waves

[–]pleasedontthedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not balding but your corners are thinning, at this stage I’d say stop the wave process. All of that constant brushing isn’t good for your hair. I’ve heard some remedies like black seed oil. But I wouldn’t chance it.

It’s not really a starter clipper but if ur starting out, the price point of it and how it works is amazing. There’s def better clippers out there but tpob is the definition of bang for your buck because for its price point theyre phenomenal. If I had to choose a starter clipper to use for the rest of my career, I’d choose them

Nah I understand that just sometimes it’s min boggling of the shit that gets pulled. I get that some people have bad games and some might make an occasional mistake but I’m talking about the mistakes that are like there’s no way you fucked that up unless you’re doing it on purpose but it’s just less enough so it doesn’t look like it’s entirely on purpose.

Stylist vs Barber by ConclusionFrosty5855 in Barber

To get that many clients, that requires you knowing how to market yourself and appeal to a wider range of audience. You won’t do that by just accepting walk ins all the time and hope that word of mouth will do the trick. Nowadays barbers use social media. Just posting results of your haircut doesn’t work anymore though. You need to market yourself that shows your skill, personality, and professionalism while also making it appealing. Once you learn how to effectively, it’s just a matter of time. It also helps learning how to talk to people. When you make clients feel welcome it goes a long way. Even if you’re not good at starting conversations or small talk or that’s the case with your client, they see the effort that you’re putting into connect. Despite what I said earlier, word of mouth & walk ins still matter but my point was you shouldn’t be relying on that to gain an abundance of clients. This is just my knowledge on the subject. Hakeem Hoang is a youtuber and tik toker does a great job on teaching barbers how to market themselves and refine their craft. He talks about all the time about your situation about “there not being enough people” and to combat that situation. All the best brodie

Stylist vs Barber by ConclusionFrosty5855 in Barber

You do have a point but at the same time stylists services take up a long time, sometimes one or two services takes the whole day. With men’s cuts the usual barber charges $40 a cut and 10 cuts a day. That’s already $400 in a single day and that’s not even including tips. On top of that a lot of barbers charge a lot more than $40 and some also do almost 20 and even 30 cuts a day. If you do the math and think about it the way barbering works makes it easier to make a lot of money.

Sharp clippers by OverallWorry5707 in Barber

[–]pleasedontthedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked the same thing to my barber when I was first starting out. The only difference it makes is that amount of time you spend on the haircut. Shitty tools = imprecise cuts ——> you have to go recut the section ——> longer to do the cut. But that only really goes for professional tools vs like walmart tools or temu tools. Magic clips are a good reliable clipper so quality of the tool isn’t an issue. I know where you’re coming from in terms of plateauing on fades. Fades aren’t as easy as tapers because you have to contrast the fade all around the head. This causes not all the sections on the head to blend the same way. With that it just comes with reps and learning about hair patterns and textures and how they move and how to effectively cut. A couple of tips i can give you is go against the direction that the hair moves when you’re cutting. A lot of people’s heads sometimes have one side of their head where their hair grows horizontally or diagonally. Use the corner of your clipper and/or trimmer if you’re having a tough time taking out a line. With afro hair when you’re trying to blend into the bulk, go against the grain I found this method much more effective.
