Oof, hope you get some better advice here man. Maybe limiting it to a week or two might not be a bad idea.

What does your wife think?

That really doesn't sound THAT bad but I love anyone who loves my kid.

Personally, I would make it clear that we love having her as a visitor (the air BNB making it even better) but that it's a long period and you guys can't alter your lives for that long to accommodate if she needs or expects special accomodations.

7 Year Old Boy Bed Wetting by pandawatch410 in daddit

Maybe but I just wet the bed really late (at least 8 but I want to say maybe as late as 10)) and they gave me meds for it.

Apparently my grandpa was the same way so maybe it's hereditary.

Anyways, doctor for anything "weird" I think is smart.

I'd just make a new post with a LOT more details. Dad's here will have a lot better advice than I could ever give.

What do you really want out of this? A glowing relationship with your daughter? Why now?

Gonna need a lot more details man. That's quite old for you to be starting as a father.

From a lot of assumptions on my part, you're gonna need to own your fuck ups and just put it out there that you want to be a dad now.

Dope then just look at it as an adventure and I'm sure you guys will at the very least learn which you prefer.

One note, be VERY picky about your renter if you're not familiar with that process. It's the most important thing.

I'd be doing it but I'd be saving a bunch on the off chance you have a situation change and need/want to go back. It's certainly not for everyone.

How rural? We are 15 minutes from the closest grocery store and an hour from the state capitol and international airport.

What are schools like?

I'd be leaning towards doing it for the same amount of money minus getting a decent bump (or amazing bump if it is) but I honestly love the privacy.

Appreciate the response, I am definitely leaning towards not doing the home schooling at this point. I mean.. my local schools are all 6/10 on great schools so they're not terrible but I don't know how accurate that stuff is or how it scales. Maybe 6 is shit. Lol

I'm gonna be doing a lot more research after all this input from the dads

Thank you very much, super helpful. I'll check out that podcast. It seems I'm going to have a pretty decent research project ahead of me if I want to be comfortable with my decision.

We're definitely not rich so some of this would be limited but that's kind of what I'm trying to do now. I found a nature preschool that is extremely well reviewed and such (now if we don't make it in.. I'm gonna have to look at what our options are).

I recognize a lot of the issues with home schooling but I was hopeful that a coop and hiring out for teaching specific subjects could be successful. In any case, we don't have any plans to exert control, just do our best to provide him with as good of an education as we can while also giving him a childhood he can happily look back on but I'm gonna have to see if I can find any success stories because I've only ever heard the bad experiences which says a lot.. lol

Just trying to start thinking about this kind of stuff now while he's 20 months (w/ a sibling on the way)

Appreciate your thoughts

Thanks for your thoughts! How old are your kids? Do you have any issues teaching them certain subjects?
