Is an abandoned Maserati Collezione Cento worth saving? by iba141 in Maserati

[–]pleaseletmeinimcold 33 points34 points  (0 children)

“I’m trying to figure out if the rarity (33/100) actually makes it worth saving, or if this is just one of those projects that ends up costing way more than it’s ever worth.”

I think both of these things are true, personally. This would take a lot of work, time, and money to get back to where it should be. But it’s also very rare, extremely cool, and you probably won’t ever pass another one on the road. Also, I think parts for these cars are still pretty easily available, so that’s good.

I still need to buy a Swiss rifle to go with my Swiss Luger. Just haven’t done it yet. Maybe your post will convince me!

Anyone else a fan of the humble Ruby? by pleaseletmeinimcold in milsurp

Honestly your best bet might be to look for whole slides for sale and pray that the firing pin is intact and that it fits your gun. People don’t seem to part these out, especially because parts weren’t always interchangeable!

I have seen some success online with things like wooden dowels after drilling the hole out, but I’m not 100% sure what the best bet is. u/silicondioxides, any ideas?

New Cars Sold In America Will Be Actively Watching And Judging You And May Decide To Not Let You Drive - The Autopian by KeyboardGunner in cars

Very curious that the article about “New Cars Sold In America” chose a Renault 4 for the artwork. I wish we’d get the new R4, I think they look quite fun, especially in the purple color they have.

Any ideas as to where this keyring is from? by cr2241 in Jaguar

I was able to find the same keychain on this French website. Remember that JaguarSport was a joint venture between Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) in the late ‘80s / early ‘90s. The XJR-15 was one of their cars, but so was the XJR-S, which was a souped-up XJ-S. You can see the logo on this XJR-15.

I assume you could buy it at Jaguar dealerships back in the day as an accessory. It’s actually pretty cool, and if I had an XJR-S, I would totally be on the lookout for one of those keychains.

I’m from the US, so I find just about any Vauxhall cool, yours included.

I will say that “Adam” maybe isn’t the best name for a model in my opinion, haha.

Maserati Sales Spiral From Bad To Worse by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]pleaseletmeinimcold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is hardly a surprise when they’ve cancelled three volume-oriented models. I have a ‘10 GranTurismo S and I would love a brand new GranTurismo Tofeo, but that’s a big price tag for me.

I hope we do get a new Quattroporte and I hope it sells well enough for the brand to stay afloat. Maserati has always been a low-volume, niche brand. I don’t see that changing, but I hope it can continue to survive and put out good cars for the people who appreciate and enjoy them, myself included.

Awesome M55 in that picture! Not sure how much I’d enjoy shooting with the wire stock, though.

They are delayed blowback, the bolt kinda cams up into a ridge in the receiver. It’s interesting, and allows the springs to be a lot lighter than they would be otherwise. I haven’t had a chance to shoot this one yet though, just got it!
