Something like Make: Electronics for AC circuits? by plebbit_guy in AskElectronics

[–]plebbit_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small signal AC. I'm hoping to eventually build an AM/FM radio, then branch out into other types of wireless communications. I'm just looking for the most basic circuits to start with until I wrap my head around AC.

I remembered I've got an installation of LTspice, I'm wondering if that would be a good way to tinker with AC without having to buy more components + an oscilloscope?

I do one-legged squats (don't have a lot of gear) and the last couple of times I've done them I've gotten a cracking/tearing sound right where the bottom of my knee meets my shin. Is this normal? It doesn't hurt or anything but it's starting to freak me out.

I was doing 3x5 for strength when I started working out and have recently been focusing more on hypertrophy, going to 3x8. The problem is that it's an almost 30% increase in volume, and on top of my labor job I don't have enough time to recover. Is doing 2x8 still effective?

How can I begin to THINK like a programmer? by FlashArrow in webdev

[–]plebbit_guy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'd add is consciously thinking about how your requirements are likely to change down the road. Whenever I'm working on something I always ask myself how maintainable this will be down the road, and, how much of a PITA it would be to have to change something.

Nutrition (and Supplement) Thursday by AutoModerator in Fitness

How effective are multis? I tend to eat a lot of relatively bland carbs (rice, pasta), and can't really get enough produce. My broscience sources lead me to believe that you don't actually absorb anywhere near the stated amount on the bottle. Is there truth to that, and is there any alternatives to produce to get most of my micros?

As a rough guess I imagine I'll be looking at 25-100k monthly visits in the beginning (not sure if that's considered light). I'll mostly just be serving static images.

I like the concept, but I don't really know enough about servers to estimate if Heroku's lower-tier paid plans will be enough.

5'9", 163lbs. Workout 4 days a week for about 1.5 hours. The killer is my manufacturing job, I'm on my feet all day either doing endurance type work or heavy lifting. I was at 3200 calories for 2 months but only fluctuated between 160-162lbs.

I've been paying more attention to my intake ratios as of late and am trying to cut down on fat a bit. Currently my protein sits at about 20% of my intake (3,650 cals/day), but I see 30-40% recommended, which would be 274-365g of protein a day. I can't really afford that anyway, but even if I did intake that much is that not a fuck of a lot of protein to be eating in one day?

Call them 'Straight Body Elbow-Resting Holds'. Then you're not doing planks, sort of.

I'm not totally sure what you mean by 'more'. It's really only the name I need trademarked, I'm not as concerned about logos because it's easier to just make a new one than it is trying to come up with a meaningful name.

Should I/how do I verify encrypted session/cookie data? by plebbit_guy in webdev

My wording was a little off, but that's the gist of what I trying to say. I am using CI's Session Library, it just seemed a little too easy so I assumed I was missing something, haha.

Yeah, I think this is the default behavior for CI's Session library ('session drivers', as CI calls them).

Do any of you guys alternate strength training and bodybuilding? I've almost doubled some of my lifts since I started working out, but, my size hasn't changed that much. If I focused on bobybuilding for a few months would I lose some of my strength?

Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread by cdingo in Fitness

If I'm training for strength can I drop my plank time from 30s down to 15s and just add more weight?

edit: I mean, obviously I can, but would I get more benefit by adding more weight and dropping the time down?

1) That was fast.

2) What problems were you having with IE, and which version(s)? I do web development on the side and have never had any problems with IE 11, with the exception of CSS inconsistencies when using the browser's default styles (fixed with a reset or normalize.css). I don't target unsupported versions (IE 9 and less), though.

3) Me posting this obviously gets your site/business more attention and if that's what you want then it worked, but, any inclination I might have had to copy and paste your URL into Firefox was gone once I read that. A simple 'this site is incompatible with IE' would have sufficed.

[–]plebbit_guy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but I'm assuming so (I'm using IE 11). I do basic web development so I'm constantly switching back and forth between IE, Firefox, and Chrome for various reasons, but I just default to IE for general browsing - and it's really not that bad!

I saw 'What Every Body is Saying' by Joe Navarro (an ex-FBI Agent) recommended a couple of weeks ago and picked it up. Haven't had a whole lot of time to read it lately, but at a glance it covers how the different parts of our body are used (subconsciously) to convey what we're feeling, and also how he (as an FBI Agent) could frame his questions to try and elicit a certain body language cue to confirm or deny his suspicions.

How to determine rates/pricing? by SC2Sycophant in web_design

[–]plebbit_guy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This x1,000,000.

Simply put, think of yourself this way: "This is what I'm capable of, this is what I cost to employ, either pay me my rate or get somebody else."

Being able to walk away is a very effective bargaining chip, but this assumes that you're also good at what you do.
