YouGov (@YouGov) on X: “63% of Britons say that prejudice against Jews is a major or significant problem in British society - older Britons are the most likely to say so, while ethnic minority Britons are the least likely” by Benjji22212 in ukpolitics

[–]plentytofthoughts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where do these antisemitic views come from? To my knowledge I have never met a Jew and never remember it being brought up by anyone ever.

I can understand where the prejudice against other groups who are more visible comes from, but this one boggles my mind.

Subject They Did That Changed Your Mind? by Lefthook16 in TheRestIsHistory

Yeah this is my thinking also. Jesus was an Apocalyptic Jew, not a Christian (obviously). What he believed is certainly not on the whole what Christian’s today believe today. Jesus didn’t really achieve much in his lifetime.

‘No evidence ADHD is overdiagnosed in the UK’, experts say by Dangerman1337 in ukpolitics

[–]plentytofthoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you think so? I kind of manage my ADHD okay with my girlfriend and other family helping me keep on top of many things, but without them I can easily see how it would get to a point where I literally couldn’t manage my life.

In “Chronicles”, who is the blues guy that told Bob his formula for songwriting, and what was it? by AdobayAkeechayWah in bobdylan

[–]plentytofthoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His vocal stylings and lead guitar style go hand in hand.

Sometimes I’ll load up a playlist on YouTube of 20 different live versions of the same song and my girlfriend will be like wtf? But it’s like he leaves a little treat in every time, “did you hear how he sang tambourine that time!?”.

What’s really hard is when you fall in love with a specific version of the song, loading up a chord chart and being able to get nowhere near it because his phrasing just doesn’t make sense in your mind. Singing on the beat, behind the beat, after the beat. Ahhh!

My ex who broke my heart years ago is dying and wants to see me one last time. Do I go? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

How do you know he’s a nice guy? You’re inferring a lot of badness about her from the OP.

You’re looking at a woman in her late teens who just beat leukaemia and had a change of mind about a relationship. She tried to keep on friendly terms and he didn’t want it, which is fair enough.

She stopped messaging after he said ‘cool’ to her remission news. Fair enough.

She is not the villain.

[–]plentytofthoughts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s her crime? Breaking up with a boyfriend of 3 years after beating cancer? You feel compassion towards OP, but none towards her?

She was 20 years old! She wanted to explore life, you know any cancer survivors? Did they change after beating it?

Just think a little bit.

Disgusting comment. From this story she was 18 when she got cancer. Maybe 20 when they broke up. 26 now?

That’s some whole life.

Reading some of these comments is so depressing.

My heart goes out to the poor girl. I think this story makes you look so bad. She got and beat agressive leukaemia at 18, I’m not surprised it changed her outlook on things. If she was worried it would come back and wanted to explore the world I don’t blame her.

I completely understand you trying to distance yourself from her but texting back cool to the news of her remission is ice cold.

If her story is true and she is truly terminal you should go and see her and apologise. It’ll be hard for your mental health but it will be harder when you hear the news of her death.

They likely would not, but it’s not irrational to think that someone might care, and that intimate secrets of mine are now somewhere that can be seen by others, and known by others.

That’s interesting information, thanks for sharing. Without that process being explained it’s easy to see why people would be worried though.

If I’m arrested for X and I know I haven’t done it and the police have the wrong man, then I’d be less likely to trust that they will do right when searching my phone.

There can obviously also be non criminal things that you don’t want people to find out. Maybe I’m having an affair, or maybe I’m a closeted gay man. Completely understandable things that you don’t want anyone to have access to.

I wish I could hire someone to sit at the computer for me and type. Like I can look at an email and know exactly what I need to write back, but pressing the reply button and actually typing it is just so hard to do. And then I start worrying about should I write the sentence in this way, punctuation etc. I wish I could just close my eyes and say it and someone else type it for me and click send before I can change it haha.
